Sketching a Face- Basic Proportions It's been a while since my last video. The reason was that I had to wait to get my new 9x12 Intuos to replace the old 4x5 Graphire I was using for the past videos. Anyway... So I got a few requests of people wanting me to show proportions of the face and how to start it. So this is a pretty basic attempt at that. I recorded it at actual speed, but it seems really slow because I'm still getting used to this new tablet. I'm at least 3 times faster with paper and a pencil. Programs used were Painter IX and Camtasia Studio. For those wondering what brush I used, it was a 2B Pencil with default settings, at a 2.2 size and with a light light blue-gray colour. Music is 'Sealed Door' by Project Majestic Mix and 'Eternal Wind' by Mister G and FFMusicDJ. Tags: drawing sketching how to draw face people proportions |

Sketching and Experience Design June 1, 2007 lecture by Bill Buxton for the Stanford University Human-Computer Interaction Seminar (CS 547). Designing for experience comes with a whole new level of complexity. This is especially true in this emerging world of information appliances, reactive environments, and ubiquitous computing, where, along with those of their users, we have to factor in the convoluted behaviors of the products themselves. In this talk, Bill discusses the design process itself, from the perspective of methods, organization, and composition. Data Modeling and Conceptual Sketching in the Design Process November 9, 2007 lecture by Monty Hamontree for the Stanford University Human-Computer Interaction Seminar (CS 547). This talk delves into 5 interrelated keys that Microsoft teams focus on to elevate the impact of "design research". Namely how to: team insightfully as project teams; observe our users holistically; broker user and design patterns proudly; distill fresh insights collectively; and envision design essence vividly. A model of various design research modeling approaches is used to spur discussion around the strengths and weakness of each approach. Improved Sketching Of Hamming Distance Google Tech Talks June 27, 2007 ABSTRACT We address the problem of sketching the hamming distance of data streams. We develop Fixable Sketches which compare data streams or files and restore the differences between them. Our contribution: For two streams with Humming distance bounded by k we show a sketch of size O(klogn) with O(logn) processing time per new element in the stream and how to restore all locations where the two streams differ in time linear in the sketch size. Probability of error is less then 1/n. Speaker: Ely Porat At age 16 Ely Porat multithreaded being a junior in high school, a freshman in the computer science department of Bar Ilan university and hacking computers.... Hashing Searching Sketching. Google Tech Talks November 20, 2006 ABSTRACT We will see improved results on search using hashing and sketching. Hashing is often analyzed as balls being thrown into bins where you think of the hash items as balls and buckets as bins. By studying variants of the balls and bins processes we obtain a hashing algorithm with 85% hash table space utilization. We will also study locality sensitive hashing, a hashing method used for nearest neighbor search, as opposed to exact search. A locality sensitive hash function is likely to map nearby elements to the same bucket. We will see a variant of locality sensitive hashing that finds an approximate nearest neighbor in high dimensions using linear space. We... Tags: google howto hashing searching sketching |
