Catching Some Rays - The Empire Statesmen The Empire Statesmen's 2006 field show, a tribute to the music of Ray Charles, is called "Catching Some Rays." Charles became popular with audiences around the world during a career that stretched from the 1940s to the early part of this new century. His versatility as a composer, singer and pianist produced hit songs in every genre: blues, rock and roll, soul, country and western, ballads and pop music. The Empire Statesmen drum and bugle corps is a self-supporting independent group that represents the city of Rochester across the United States and Canada and as far abroad as Europe, the Caribbean and South America. The Empire Statesmen are known world wide for their high quality, entertaining performances on the contest field, concert stage and in street parades and other special events. Here are The Empire Statesmen in competition with their 2006 show "Catching Some Rays" as performed in DCA Competition in Wildwood, NJ on June 17th, 2006.
