Latin Dance Lesson : The Salsa Submarine 'boop' Pattern http://addicted2salsa.com/2006/06/05/salsa-dance-16-the-submarine-boop-combo/ Well, this is a funny one I think. The name of this combo was given by our videographer because every time I taught the combo I would make a 'boop' sound similar to that one on the radars in submarines. If you would like to do the 'boop' sound, it is done on the counts of 1 and 5. I usually use this combo to give me more time to think what move/combo I will be doing next - so basically I use it to stall. ;-) Good to have it in the 'salsa arsenal' of moves. Russian Submarine Russian nuclear submarines in training start-up of ballistic missiles in the Arctic Ocean. NATO apparently derived the name 'Typhoon' from a 1974 speech by Leonid Brezhnev which mentioned a new SSBN called the "Tayfun". In fact, the Russian name for the class is "Akula" -- "Shark". During the Cold War the Typhoon submarines prowled the waters of the North Atlantic. The Typhoon is the world's largest submarine and was one of the most feared weapons of the Cold War. Each submarine is capable of carrying twenty long-range ballistic missiles RSM-52 ( SS-N-20 ballistic missiles, now SS-N-28 new Russian ballistic missiles) with up to 200 nuclear warheads that were once aimed at the United States. The design of the Typhoon submarine is multi-hulled and bears resemblance to a catamaran. The submarine has two separate pressure hulls with a diameter of 7.2 m each, five inner habitable hulls and 19 compartments. The pressure hulls are arranged parallel to each other and symmetrical to a centerplane. The missile compartment is arranged in the upper part of the bow between the pressure hulls. Both hulls and all compartments are connected by transitions. The pressure hulls, the centerplane and the torpedo compartment are made of titanium and the outer light hull is made of steel. A protected module, comprising the main control room and electronic equipment compartment, is arranged behind the missile silos above the main hulls in a centerplane under the guard of retractable devices. The submarine's design includes features to enable it to both travel under ice and for ice-breaking. It has an advanced stern fin with horizontal hydroplane fitted after the screws. The nose horizontal hydroplanes are in the bow section and are retractable into the hull. The retractable systems include two periscopes (one for the commander and one for general use), radio sextant, radar, radio communications, navigation and direction-finder masts. They are housed within the sail guard. The sail and sail guard have a reinforced rounded cover for ice-breaking. This fastest weapon for 2-3 minute Apocalypse for any military opponent. Yellow Submarine Beatles Video #4 using Todd McFarlane's ABC cartoon AND Yellow Submarine Beatles toys...among others. I had fun with this one, adding other characters whom I admire. * This one was the toughest one to produce. It contains footage from "Finding Nemo", and I had to edit my and my daughter Kacy's hand in to it for scenes with the Dreadful Flying Glove. * Watch carefully for the blooper after the Glove and the submarine collide. * FACTOID - The scene where The Beatles meet Jeremy - only JOHN was used for all 4 Beatles. As you may or may not know, the Ringo figure cannot stand, so instead of going through the trouble of editing the four, I used John 4x. Luckily they're small enough so you can't tell. (One was reversed for Paul.) Tags: beatles mccartney lennon harrison ringo starr oldies music yellow submarine short film |

Yellow Submarine Part 1 Part 1 Do you know that beatles cartoon series in the sixties? The lads themselves hated it. The voices were 'americanised' british accents, meaning they were given voices according to what yanks think we fuckin' sound like. Have a look for them round youtube, there's loads of them about. I was looking at a few of them lately, and cringing at the sound of the shit attempts at the fab fours' voices. No wonder they hated it. The only character's voice who sounded anything remotely like the real person, was Ringo ("I'm luurning kar-art-tee") and even that was fuckin' shite. Anyway, here's my response. The fantastic 'yellow Submarine'. Enjoy. Tags: beatles yellow submarine movie john lennon paul mccartney ringo starr george harrison |

Jet Nautilus RC Submarine More math about the Nautilus than most would care to know. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/member.php?u=40728 7ft web page http://home.comcast.net/~byourk/7footaa.html Up until the last two times I've conducted speed tests I thought the nose dive effect was possibly an artifact of the model not applicable or insignificant to the full size or large replica. However, now, I am convinced that a larger model or full scale could not escape this effect. I've concluded that it's inherent in the shape of the hull. On the last test I was certain the sub would stay afloat. But contrary, down it went of its own accord. This indicates to me that the effect (nose dive) is related to speed. What I don't know is, if, on a larger sub the effect is relative to speed (increase to a greater speed proportional to size), or if the speeds I achieve with the model are absolute for the effect to take place. In other words once this speed (or slightly faster) is reached the sub (at any size) will nose dive. In the speed test video any scenes showing the sub submerging (beginning and end) are at 24 volts set up (greater speed). Otherwise it's rock steady and smooth at 12 volts (lesser speed). In the first frames showing the sub submerging, setup at 24 volts, I cut the power as soon as it went under, you can see (possibly) that it levels out and then I sent it straight out at about 2-3 ft under water. To see what the effect would be without releasing the forward controls I sent it out straight. This is seen in the last part of the video. It hit bottom in about 15-20 ft depth, about 150 ft from shore. I started the run again from this point (where it's seen submerging again), and it came up on the other end of the pond. If it were not for the upward curve to the side rakers it would have leveled off and traveled straight across at some (unmeasured) depth without surfacing. Submarine Atlantis XI Pressure hull The pressure hull is generally constructed of thick high-strength steel with a complex structure and high strength reserve, and is separated with watertight bulkheads into several compartments. There are also examples of more than two hulls in a submarine, like the Typhoon class, which has two main pressure hulls and three smaller ones for control room, torpedoes and steering gear, while the missile launch system is located between the main hulls. The dive depth cannot be increased easily. Simply making the hull thicker increases the weight and requires reduction of the weight of onboard equipment, ultimately resulting in a bathyscaphe. This is affordable for civilian research submersibles, but not military submarines, so their dive depth was always bound by current technology. WW1 submarines had their hulls built of carbon steel, and could not submerge below 100 meters. During World War Two, high-strength alloyed steel was introduced, allowing for dive depths of up to 200 meters. High-strength alloyed steel is still the main material for submarines today, with 250-400 meters depth limit, which cannot be exceeded on a military submarine without sacrificing other characteristics. To exceed that limit, a few submarines were built with titanium hulls. Titanium is almost as strong as steel, but lighter, and is also not ferromagnetic, which is important for stealth. Titanium submarines were favored by the Soviet Union, which developed specialized high-strength alloys and built an industry capable of producing titanium at an affordable cost. It has produced several types of titanium submarines. Titanium alloys allow a major increase in depth, but other systems need to be redesigned to cope, so test depth was limited to 1000 meters for K-278 Komsomolets, the deepest-diving combat submarine. An Alfa class submarine may have successfully operated at 1300 meters,[3] though continuous operation at such depths would be an excessive stress for many submarine systems. Titanium also does not flex as easily as steel, and may be come brittle over many cycles of diving and surfacing. Despite its benefits, the high cost of titanium construction led to the abandonment of titanium submarine construction as the Cold War ended. Deep diving civilian submarines have used thick glass pressure hulls. The task of building a pressure hull is very difficult, as it must withstand pressures up to that of its required diving depth. When the hull is perfectly round in cross-section, the pressure is evenly distributed, and causes only hull compression. If the shape is not perfect, the hull is bent, with several points heavily strained. Inevitable minor deviations are resisted by the stiffener rings, but even a one inch (25 mm) deviation from roundness results in over 30 percent decrease of maximal hydrostatic load and consequently dive depth.[4] The hull must therefore be constructed with very high precision. All hull parts must be welded without defects, and all joints are checked several times using different methods. This contributes to the very high cost of modern submarines. (For example, each Virginia-class attack submarine costs 2.6 billion dollars, over $200,000 per ton of displacement.) [edit] Propulsion HMCS Windsor, a Victoria-class diesel-electric hunter-killer submarine German Type 212 submarine with AIP propulsion of the German Navy in dock at HDW/Kiel German Type XXI submarines, also known as "Elektroboote", were the first submarines designed to operate entirely submergedOriginally submarines were human propelled. The first mechanically driven submarine was the 1863 French Plongeur, which used compressed air for propulsion, and anaerobic propulsion was first employed by the Spanish Ictineo II in 1864. Ictineo's engine used a chemical mix containing a peroxide compound to generate heat for steam propulsion while also providing oxygen for the crew. The system was not employed again until 1940 when the German Navy tested a system employing the same principles, the Walter turbine, on the experimental V-80 submarine and later on the naval U-791 submarine.
