Touhou 08 - Imperishable Night Extra Stage Clear This is the longest stage/boss battle in the game in Boss Replay mode (fast-forwards through non-boss areas). There were 3 miss/bombs that should've been avoided, and maybe a 4th. The Fujiyama Volcano spellcard really sucked for me, and it was the first time I reached her Last Spell, so I died pretty quickly on that. Fixed my recording so the slight pause in the middle's gone, and also improved the quality slightly. Touhou 10 - 東方風神録 - Mountain of Faith Extra Stage (No Death) Heres another highscore run by me, a lot more effort/attempts have been put into it: http://replays.gensokyo.org/replays/th10_udDn09.rpy Be sure to rename it to "th10_xx.rpy", XX beign a number from 01 to 24, otherwise it wont work. No deaths during this run, 4 bombs were used for scoring, one to survive suwako's 2nd survival spellcard (i thought i would get it at a point until i got cornered by the double white bullets -.- ). Theres also a massive abuse of marisaC's orbs by lining up 3 orbs under the boss instead of 2 ;p Aside from that, im really proud of this run, it netted me a 862 million score, which could probably only be beaten by not bombing the 2nd survival spellcard. I'm kinda sad i got this run on the 1.00a patch, since the next patch is coming out soon apparantly, so itll probalby invalidate my #1 extra stage highscore on shrinemaiden, but at least itll be forever immortalised on youtube ;p Overall i like this extra stage quite a bit, suwako's theme is really good and the extra stage theme is awesome once kanako appears. however the stage is way too easy, it took me like 15 tries to beat it, compared to like 80 for IN's ( Imperishable Night ) extra stage and 60ish for PCB's ( Perfect Cherry Blossom ) extra stage and 30-40ish for PCB's phantasm. This extra stage seems to be a lot more "figure out the trick" than the other extra stages, in a lot of cases if you dont know how to do it, youre screwed for most spellcards, or itll cause you to panic and die. Touhou Soccer 2- Mima's Twilight Spark Ah, the Mother of All Sparks. I've also heard that this attack spoofs SRW Alpha 2's Ganeden's Follow the Sun attack. I've only gotten so far in Alpha 2 though, and just slightly behind where I'd see it in Alpha 3. Ah well. Anyways, this shot is unlocked through Mima's scenario, and is definitely the strongest of the single person shots, dwarfing even a handful of double shots as well. It's certainly something impressive. However, Mima is kind of a poor player with little moves and average stats. Touhou 'Imperishable Night' - MIDI out to Yamaha PSR-E313 Demonstration of Imperishable Night set to MIDI music in the Options, playing through my Yamaha keyboard. The keyboard's display lets you see the notes as they're played (the notes on Channel 1 of the MIDI, so sometimes nothing shows up). I'm having trouble getting it to set up the channels properly, i.e. what should be PERCUSSION comes out as PIANO. That is, until I start playing a MIDI file on the keyboard itself - at that point, it sets up its channels properly. That means it's restricted to playing the Touhou music using instrument sets from the MIDIs I have stored on the keyboard at the moment. So what I'm doing is getting the Imperishable Night music playing on my computer as MIDI, it goes to my keyboard, then I start and immediately pause another unrelated MIDI on the keyboard itself, to force it to set its channels up properly. This means you're hearing the Touhou music using different sets of instruments than intended to (the instruments of the unrelated MIDIs). I use a few random unrelated MIDIs, so you get to hear the music in a few different sets of instruments. When I unplugged the MIDI cable, it was to prove that it really is playing in realtime. I want to connect the MIDI out of my computer to the MIDI in of my computer, and record, to 'extract' the MIDI files from the game. But I need to get some little adaptor to allow me to connect 2 male cables to each other. EDIT: Yet again, I spent a long time making sure the video and audio were in sync, but YouTube never fails to mess it up. Sorry about the sudden uselessness of this video. Hopefully it sounds okay... EDIT 2: Because several people have wanted to use their keyboards as a MIDI output device and not known exactly where to start, I'll try to explain... You need to connect your computer's soundcard to your keyboard via a MIDI cable. This means you either need a soundcard with external MIDI out (such as what I use, an M-Audio Audiophile 2496), or you can connect your own wires to the game port on your soundcard (there are tutorials online for doing this, but I can't help you, sorry). Then you'll just need to set that soundcard to be the default MIDI device (Control Panel, 'Sound(etc)' on XP, 'Multimedia' on 98, no idea on Vista ><). My keyboard listens to MIDI input from power-up, and many other keyboards are probably the same. ;) Then use any program which uses MIDI (this and other games, or even simply a media player with a MIDI file to test it).
