Taxation Join Allen West's campaign for Florida's 22nd Congressional District! http://www.allenwestforcongress.com LTC Allen West has lived his life in service to America. In 2004, when it was time to retire from more than twenty years of service in the US Army, he brought his wife and two young daughters to Broward County, Florida, where he taught high school. He then returned to Afghanistan as an advisor to the Afghan army, an assignment he finished in November 2007. Born and raised in Atlanta, Allen West received BS (UT) and MS degrees in political science (KSU). He also holds a Master of Military Arts and Sciences from the US Army Command and General Staff Officer College in political theory and military history and operations. "Education is the great equalizer," he says. "With a good education, any child in America can live his dream." Allen West knows that for our children to live their dreams, they need to be safe. He has faced down the world's terrorists: in Operation Desert Storm, in Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he was battalion commander for the Army's 4th Infantry Division, and in Afghanistan, where he trains Afghan officers to take on the responsibility of securing their own country. In his Army career, Col. West has been honored many times, including a Bronze Star, three Meritorious Service Medals, three Army Commendation Medals (one with Valor), and a Valorous Unit Award. He received his valor award as a Captain in Desert Shield/Storm, was the US Army ROTC Instructor of the Year in 1993, and was a Distinguished Honor Graduate III Corps at Fort Hood, Texas Air Assault School. Excellence is a West family tradition. His wife, Angela, holds an MBA and PhD. and works as a financial planner. The Double Trouble of Taxation http://www.digitalgoldmoney.com/ Tax policy in this country hurts taxpayers twice -- once when they pay taxes, and then when the government spends the money. Americans are sick and tired of the financial burden and the endless forms to fill out. To add insult to injury, after collecting this money the government does some very detrimental things to the economy. The burden of complying with the income tax is tremendous. Since its inception in 1913, the tax code has gone from 400 pages to over 67,000. The Tax Foundation estimates that around $265 billion dollars and 6 billion hours are spent just on compliance. That expense amounts to about 22 cents of every dollar the IRS collects. Imagine the boon to the economy if we spent that time and money expanding our businesses and creating jobs! Aside from the direct loss of money and productivity, the funds from the income tax enable the government to do some very destructive things, such as vastly over-regulating economic activity, making it difficult to earn money in the first place. The federal government funds over 50 agencies, departments and commissions that formulate rules and regulations. These bureaucracies operate with little to no oversight from the people or Congress and generate around 4,000 new rules every year and operate at a cost of about 40 billion dollars. There are some 75,000 pages of regulations in the Federal Register that Americans are expected to know and abide by. Complying with these governmental regulations costs American businesses more than one trillion dollars per year, according to a study by Mark Crain for the Small Business Administration. This complicated system drives production to other countries and shrinks our job market here at home. Big government is destructive when it takes your money and when it spends it. There is no economic benefit to supporting a government sector as massive as ours. In fact, this country thrived for well over 100 years without an income tax. Today, if you took away the income tax, the government would still have revenue from other sources equal to total government spending in 1990, when government was still too big. $1.2 trillion should be more than enough to fund a government operating within its constitutional confines, and that is exactly what we need to get back to. I have introduced legislation many times to abolish the IRS and the income tax. It is fundamentally un-American to require taxpayers to testify against themselves and be considered guilty until proven innocent. Abolishing the IRS altogether would trigger an avalanche of real growth in the economy. With these financial hard times only just beginning, this would be the most efficient and logical way to get our economy growing again, and Americans would need not dread the 15th of April every year. -Ron Paul http://www.digitalgoldmoney.com/ Tags: economy housing bubble debt inflation fiat currency big government fed federal reserve falling dollar gold standard |

Taxation is NOT payment for "services." I quote a US law which proves that taxation is not meant as payment for State "services," since people who leave the US can still be forced to pay taxes even if they receive no "services." Ron Paul Lunch in SF - Confiscation/Taxation (2 of 6) But the magnificent part of the freedom philosophy and our Constitution and our traditions is that it is not divisive. Socialism and welfarism and warfarism is divisive because government takes control of all the elements of wealth and takes control of our lives and fruits of our labor through a tax system which is confiscatory. And that is: the income tax. So, if you truly believe in liberty, you have to give up the principle of the federal/personal income tax. What happens when the government assumes that it owns all your wealth and takes that money to Washington, they own our lives and they own control and what does it encourage? It encourages the special interest to go to Washington to control the wealth. It politicizes every penny of spending. So then you have a military-industrial complex. You have a medical-industrial complex. You have an educational-industrial complex... the whole works. Everybody goes to Washington and they fight over the loot that's been stolen from them. And of course, what we're suffering from today is a diminished system of production because we are over-regulated, and over-taxed, and good jobs are going overseas and we're suffering because we're totally dependent on borrowed money. And you can't do that forever. In contrast to a system that we have today -- or moving in the direction of socialism where were fighting and competing for the control of wealth -- the market system and freedom does exactly the opposite. It is a very tolerant system. It means that you're not judgmental; you allow individuals to act and take care of their lives in their own way. The biggest difference though that some people don't want to try is the fact that when you have a system like that. We are all responsible for our own lives and nobody else can bail us out if we make mistakes. That is the important factor that individuals should have this freedom to act and perform in whatever manner as long as they assume responsibility. The marketplace, of course, is the same way. The market thrives when we get the government out of the way. Now the one thing that I as a presidential candidate strongly urge is that there's a big difference in the way I present my views. For instance, most candidates will come and they'll say, "This is what I'm going to do for you, I'm going to provide this for you, I'm going to run the economy, I'm going to police the world. I'm going to do all these wonderful things." I as a candidate have a program, which is somewhat opposite. And that is, what I'm saying is, "I don't want to run your lives." Your life is your own. It is yours to be productive or to self-destruct. It's up to you run your own life. I'm not smart enough to know. I don't have the moral authority. I certainly don't have the legal authority to tell you how to you should run your own life. Same way with the economy. I don't want to run the economy... I'm not smart enough. And I tell you one thing, I can guarantee you: the politicians and the bureaucrats I know in Washington aren't smart enough to run the economy either. I don't and no other politician has the moral authority, the intellect or the Constitutional authority to run the economy. Likewise, I don't have the authority nor the wisdom to run the world. I don't have the Constitutional authority to do this and it always backfires to make this assumption. Whether it is our government's attempt to run our private lives, run our economic life or run the world, you can rest assured that the opposite results will occur. MPO Board Member: It's a Taxation Plan, NOT Congestion Plan 10-8-07 Austin, TX - CAMPO board member Jeff Mills reveals that the toll plan for Central Texas does not deal with the most congested areas of the region. Mills explained that 80% of the most congested areas in the region are not addressed with the toll plan. The toll lobby had been selling the toll plan as a congestion relief solution, when in fact, it's a taxation plan. "These projects do nothing for the main points of congestion," he said, noting that the Texas Department of Transportation had made it clear that it was only interested in toll roads. "There are sufficient funds for non-tolled roads." Tags: txdot kirk watson gerald daugherty Campo Toll Road Vote roads freeways austin travis county double tax ttc |
