John Mccain violates Mccain-Feingold Campaign Finance laws Amidst all the attacks on Obama's "flip-flop," how much have you read in the MSM about the fact that McCain has "completely reversed himself" on public financing -- and is currently breaking the law on a daily basis, making a mockery out of a campaign finance system he helped create? In the fall of 2007, McCain opted into the public financing system for the GOP primaries, which meant he'd later receive just over $5 million in public funds in exchange for agreeing to a fundraising limit of around $54 million for the entire primary process, which ends when he accepts the nomination at the Republican National Convention in September. By late November, his campaign was practically broke, so McCain took out a pair of $1 million loans, using the public funds he would receive as collateral. Cut to Super Tuesday, when McCain had the Republican nomination all but wrapped up. Suddenly, he didn't want to be bound by that $54 million limit, so his campaign did a 180 and opted back out of the public financing system. But as David Mason, the Republican-appointed chair of the FEC, has pointed out, you can't just unilaterally opt out -- especially after securing a loan based on having opted in. The response of the McCain campaign is quite simply to ignore Mason. Alle activisten werden geweldadig opgepakt. Hiermee heeft de politie de zijde gekozen van dieruitbuiters, die geld verdienen over de ruggen van weerloze dieren. Respect voor Dieren laat zich niet intimideren door politierepressie en zal doorgaan met acties tegen dierenleed. Hoewel de grondwet in Nederland stelt dat er vrijheid van meningsuiting is, merkt Respect voor Dieren daar weinig van. Bij flyeracties in Zaandam, waarbij mensen worden geïnformeerd over dierenleed, arresteert de politie bijna wekelijks een of meerdere mensen. Afgelopen zaterdag was een voorlopig hoogtepunt in dit repressiebeleid. Toen de agenten aankwamen bij de actie, werden vrijwel onmiddelijk de twee woordvoerders gearresteerd. Een agent ramde het hoofd van een activist tegen een rolluik aan, arresteerde haar en trok haar hardhandig in de politieauto. De politie Zaandam besloot daarna de hele groep activisten van Respect voor Dieren te arresteren. Met maar liefst 8 politieauto's en een veelvoud aan agenten, werd de groep activisten omsingeld. Een agent trapte en sloeg meerdere malen in op de groep van Respect voor Dieren en dreigde met pepperspray te spuiten. Het politiekorps in Zaandam staat bekend om hun geweldadige aanvallen op activisten. Behalve Respect voor Dieren hebben ook andere activisten te maken gehad met de Zaanse politierepressie. Rond de jaarwisseling zaten zo'n 50 mensen drie dagen opgesloten na een lawaaidemonstratie bij de detentieboten in Zaandam, waar migranten worden opgesloten. Respect voor Dieren heeft ook in Amsterdam de ervaring dat de politie de belangen behartigt van bontverkopers, slagers en andere dieruitbuiters. De actiegroep heeft echter laten zien niet te zwichten voor repressie. De klappen van de politiestok, verbleken bij het leed wat miljoenen dieren wordt aangedaan. Activist Nina Kroos: "Keer op keer probeert de politie en politiek ons de mond te snoeren.
