TAP Airbus A310 Low pass turn Portugal Airshow 2007, Evora PILOTS, DON'T TRY THIS BY YOURSELVES! MANEUVERS SHOWN HERE WERE INTENSIVELY TRAINED BEFORE THIS AIRSHOW, INCLUDING POSSIBLE EVENTUALITIES LIKE CROSSWIND, WINDSHEAR, AND VARIOUS FAILURES THAT CAN OCCUR. SAFETY IS ALWAYS THE FIRST TO OBSERVE IN A FLIGHT, SPECIALLY IN AIRSHOWS! -------------------------------------- ADDITIONAL INFO: On this post, CV990 reveals all passes you see in this video were SERIOUSLY PLANNED AND TRAINED: http://www.airliners.net/discussions/general_aviation/read.main/3612868/1/#1 The pilot on this great performance flight was Cap. César Brito no less than the TAP Airbus A310 fleet last Chief Pilot...this awesome pilot have 4.000 hours on the A310 and TAP wanted to pay the best tribute for almost 20 years of service in TAP without an accident. The airplane involved was CS-TEI and the co-pilot of that flight was Vitor Pereira. Has you know, from November on TAP will start to receive 5 brand new A330-200 fresh from the factory. This incredible performance shows the great pilots TAP have during all these years, just to remind you in early 60's the famous Capt. Marcelino passed UNDER Tagus bridge with a Boeing 707!!! -------------------------------------- UPDATED INFO: I spoke with an A310 TAP pilot. Following are FACTS, NOT RUMORS: 1. Capt. César Brito is still flying, because he did in the airshow EXACTLY what was planned and trained to do. That was not a stupid idea executed in a moment, it took weeks of preparation. 2. Brito knew perfectly how Evora airfield is. He's playing with an optical effect; the other side's ground has a slightly downward form. 3. Co-pilot was another A310 commander, and during the show he was focused in altitude to continuously report to César. 4. Plane passed a complete overhaul just before this airshow, so the risk of failures was minimum. 5. Plane continued flying with passengers until retired soon, but after a reccommended inspection by Airbus officials. -------------------------------------- To say a bit about how I recorded this video, I was in the organisation team in the Copa Triangular de Vuelo Acrobático at Portugal Airshow, so I was able to record this really close to it. First passes are recorded very close to the runway; the jet blast hit me plenty! The last one is recorded from CTVA temporary control tower in Evora. That A310 was really great!!! If you liked this video, please visit the link below and I'll try to bring better videos to you... :) http://www.metacafe.com/watch/838897/tap_airbus_a310_low_pass_turn_portugal_airshow_2007_evora/ Thank you a lot! :) Tags: Airbus A310 TAP low lower pass fly flyby portugal airshow evora 2007 pasada baja air show turn passes vuelo amazing big |

Airbus A380 evacuation - 873 people in 77 seconds! Hamburg, Germany, 26 March 2006. With only 8 of the 16 exits opened, the task for this evacuation certification was to get 853 passengers and 20 crew out of the plane within 90 seconds. This all happened in darkness, with only cabin emergency lights switched on. The footage is from night vision cameras. The crew and passengers did not know which exits would be blocked. 853 passengers is just the maximum number in a single-class economy configuration. The typical three-class configuation will be able to carry 525 passengers. The regulations say that in this test: - 35% must be aged over 50, - a minimum 40% must be female, - 15% female and over 50. They did it! In 1:17 - that is 77 seconds. Here's proof that this all makes sense: Air France Flight 358: Overrun at Toronto http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sCXlRsmq8g8 Airlines Tags: Airbus A380 380 Boeing plane crash disaster emergency notfall evakuierung 747 jumbo takeoff landing jet singapore |

Airbus Family http://www.aviationlive.org Online Aviation Pics,Videos and Forum Airbus is an aircraft manufacturing subsidiary of EADS, a European aerospace concern. Based in Toulouse, France and with significant activity across Europe, the company produces around half of the world's jet airliners. Airbus began as a consortium of aerospace manufacturers. Consolidation of European defence and aerospace companies around the turn of the century allowed the establishment of a simplified joint stock company in 2001, owned by EADS (80%) and BAE Systems (20%). After a protracted sale process BAE sold its shareholding to EADS on 13 October 2006. Airbus employs around 57,000 people at sixteen sites in four European Union countries: Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and Spain. Final assembly production is at Toulouse (France) and Hamburg (Germany). Airbus has subsidiaries in the United States, Japan and China. The Airbus product line started with the A300, the world's first twin-aisle, twin-engined aircraft. A shorter, re-winged, re-engined variant of the A300 is known as the A310. Building on its success, Airbus launched the A320 with its innovative fly-by-wire control system. The A320 has been, and continues to be, a great commercial success. The A318 and A319 are shorter derivatives with some of the latter under construction for the corporate biz-jet market (Airbus Corporate Jet). A stretched version is known as the A321 and is proving competitive with later models of the Boeing 737.The longer-range products, the twin-jet A330 and the four-engine A340, have efficient wings, enhanced by winglets. The Airbus A340-500 has an operating range of 16 700 kilometres (9000 nautical miles), the second longest range of any commercial jet after the Boeing 777-200LR (range of 17 446 km or 9420 nautical miles). The company is particularly proud of its use of fly-by-wire technologies and the common cockpit systems in use throughout the aircraft family, which make it much easier to train crew. Airbus is studying a replacement for the A320 series, tentatively dubbed NSR, for "New Short-Range aircraft. Those studies indicated a maximum fuel efficiency gain of 9-10% for the NSR. Airbus however opted to enhance the existing A320 design using new winglets and working on aerodynamical improvements. This "A320 Enhanced" should have a fuel efficiency improvement of around 4-5%, shifting the launch of a A320 replacement to 2017-2018. In July 2007, Airbus delivered its last A300 to FedEx, marking the end of the A300/A310 production line. Airbus intends to relocate Toulouse A320 final assembly activity to Hamburg, and A350/A380 production in the opposite direction as part of its Power8 organization plan begun under ex-CEO Christian Streiff.Airbus supplied replacement parts and service for Concorde until its retirement in 2003. was formally established as a Groupement d'Interet Economique (Economic Interest Group or GIE) on 18 December 1970.The name "Airbus" was taken from a non-proprietary term used by the airline industry in the 1960s to refer to a commercial aircraft of a certain size and range, for this term was acceptable to the French linguistically. Aerospatiale and Deutsche Airbus each took a 36.5% share of production work, Hawker Siddeley 20% and Fokker-VFW 7%.Each company would deliver its sections as fully equipped, ready-to-fly items. In October 1971 the Spanish company CASA acquired a 4.2% share of Airbus Industrie, with Aerospatiale and Deutsche Airbus reducing their stakes to 47.9%.In January 1979 British Aerospace, which had absorbed Hawker Siddeley in 1977, acquired a 20% share of Airbus Industrie. The majority shareholders reduced their shares to 37.9%, while CASA retained its 4.2%. In 1972, the A300 made its maiden flight and the first production model, the A300B2 entered service in 1974. Initially the success of the consortium was poor but by 1979 there were 81 aircraft in service. It was the launch of the A320 in 1981 that guaranteed the status of Airbus as a major player in the aircraft market - the aircraft had over 400 orders before it first flew, compared to 15 for the A300 in 1972.The production assets to the new company, Airbus SAS, in return for shareholdings in that company. A380 Airbus Crosswind Landing Flight Test Icelandic TV station video (language is Icelandic) during Airbus A380 crosswind landing certification tests in Keflavik with 40 to 50 knot crosswinds. Technique is to fly crabbed down to flare height then "kick" (gently) the rudder to align the nose. Some crab at touchdown is acceptable and will be cancelled as the main gear also align the bird with the runway. Sounds easy dosn't it? Notice the flight control laws only allow the lower rudder until the aircraft is on the ground, then both upper and lower rudders are controlled by the autopilot during AutoLand operations or by the rudder pedals. This logic helps prevent unwanted roll from the upper rudder due to its placement being so far away from the longitudinal axis of the aircraft.
