Shoddy Battle # 22: BattleBot Well I decided I should check out the PokeExperte server after I heard a few good reviews there. When I got there it was a german shitdump. Like, only two members were on. But I was pretty intrigued by BattleBot. Its level of AI wasn't the best, but it seemed good for testing teams. I really needed it, I thought there could be a lot hiding in my team. I haven't had the time to improve it yet but I will. Since the BattleBot's AI level sucks, I managed to cram 3 of our battles into one video without making any super fast or anything. In some of them Gyarados and Mamoswine did an excellent job of sweeping. I never knew Ice Shard + Curse worked so well. Also DD Gyarados turns out awesome. And Reflect Cresselia with Blissey is also awesome. This is what I meant by having a lot hiding in my team. The problem with Battlebot is that it doesn't predict or switch out. It makes setting up a whole lot easier, which is why Gyarados and Mamoswine did so well. I was looking forward to facing some ubers, actually. But it seems BattleBot doesn't have em. Oh well. Yet again I compiled a small question and answer piece in my description. Q:Your old team is better, why are you using this? A:I'm also doing this for the fun of using a new team, not only because I want to get a better team. It may seem my old team is better, its just because I'm used to it and I can use it better. I am occasionally going to use my old team Q:Why do you use so many OU Pokemon? A:There is a reason they are called OVER USED Pokemon Q:Why not use different, original movesets? A:I will tend to that when I'm improving my team Q:General details? A:My username on the Official Server is Machiki, and also on the Pokeexperte server, Smogon University Server and Doug's CAP Server. Lego Battlebot: Hazardous - Special Wedge/lifter request Requested by Kratos85: http://www.youtube.com/user/kratos85 This Robot, I was eager to build since not only was it my first flipper but I was pumped and determined after watching a robot called Biohazard built by Carlos Bertochinni just completely hoist robots into the air and I'm wondering how does he do that? Well he's combined a special 4 bar flipper/lifter arm with some linear actuators to make the ultimate robot. It could lift a regular sized car! (about 1 ton of lifting force right there O.o) So by now you're probably thinking this robot is going to be like biohazard. Well the flipper part is going to be atleast :P Well me being a avid robot wars fan; this is my tribute to the world of roboteering, and I hope this can give you a small piece of knowledge about it. Wether your building lego battlebots (like me... small scale stuff):P to fighting some of the meanest machines out there like razer or ziggy it's all basicly the same thing. With all that said and done I just want to give you a link to the channel of a good friend of mine who shares the same interest of mine, ochayedonald. He's got a few robot videos on there also. Some of which are pretty neat! http://www.youtube.com/user/ochayedonald Music: Down with the sickness by disturbed Cat Scratch fever (cover) by pantera originally done by ted nugeant. **UPDATE** I've now started some series and I've gone and rebuilt hazardous for the about 5th time now and added in some of the new lego actuators to give it a astounding 5 pounds of lift! (Thats pretty good considering its lego). Here's one of my favorites: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8RliCzeK1U Tags: Lego robot battlebot wars bot hazardous biohazard electric power functions fight destruction destructive flipper carnage rage tribute |

UCLA BattleBot Drivetrain Test This is a video I made testing the drivetrain for UCLA Robotics' ASME Lightweight BattleBot, UBRuined. We will be competing in the 2007 RoboGames in San Francisco, against teams from across the country. This particular bot is a shell spinner powered by a 3" MagMotor bought from Team Nightmare (although neither the shell nor the MagMotor are present in this video) Special thanks to all the UCLA Tool Crib staff in Engineering 1037 for the free welding, electronics advice, and parts! Battle Bot is hacked with a BX-24 at George School, 2006 With Robodyssey System's BasicH (H-bridge) motherboard, old remote-controlled toys can become fully autonomous robots. The electronic brain of this Battle Bot was replaced with the BasicH motherboard and a BX-24 microcontroller (by NetMedia). The BX-24 controls the robot's DC motors via the H-bridge. Here, the robot is propelled in random directions. Most mobile toys and remote controlled cars are powered by DC motors, so imagine the possibilities of programming them to run autonomously. Essentially, you can turn just about any mobile toy into your own autonomous robot! As mentioned above, the robot's brain is NetMedia's BX-24 microcontroller, which is programmed using the BasicX language. I am the author of the world's only BasicX textbook; if you are interested in learning how to program your own robot, see my website at www.basicxandrobotics.com. How to: Lego Motorized Battlebot Guide Since I've built 19 robots and countless other failures I decided to share what I know about building lego robots and making them run to the best of their abilitys. The guide is showing the construction of my newly built battlebot called the drop zone. I tried to make this video as un-boring as possible but if you want to build a good sturdy battlebot then hopefully you can get a few ideas or lightbulbs popping over your heads out of this. **Extra building hints (arn't in the video): when your building be sure to keep any rare pieces that you find because even though they seem pointless now, they may prove to be a big part of your creation and if you used it somewhere else where you could have used another block or technic piece that would have done the same, you're screwed. What I mean by rare is that you only might have a few pieces of the same kind of them in your lego tub or whatnot. (it's happened to me countless times, it's a small thing but very annoying). any weaponry that you made or removed from a robot try to keep it intact, taking the weapon apart when you don't need to, to find out you need it again after you've taken it apart is a pain. Clearing up, tank tread type steering is when there is atleast 1 motor per wheel/tire making it be able to turn on the dime. Unlike the regular rack and pinion, or linear steering system you dont have to move the vehicle forwards or backwards to get it to turn. Pretty much thats it, if I think of anything else or you have questions just ask me.
