Demonstrates "Broken Audio Bug" in Visual Communicator This video demonstrates a very annoying bug in Visual Communicator which sometimes severely distorts audio when a video is compiled (published). The audio for this was recorded with a Logitech USB microphone. It sounds fine when played back with Visual Communicator (V. 2.x or 3beta). This bug happens randomly in both Visual Communicator Version 2.x and Version 3 beta. Another related bug disrupts inserted .AVI videos. This second bug will often crash Visual Communicator at unpredictable results, sometime before completing the conversion. I have seen it do this when publishing to Flash (.FLV) and Windows Media (.WMV) files (both low and high bandwith). It happens more with longer files. This second bug happens with version 2.x and 3 beta. The video titled "Introduction to Breadboard (Protoboards), Part 2 of 2" has good audio but demonstartes the .AVI breakup bug at the very end where it shows a short video camera shot of a blinking LED. I had to "publish" this video (about 10 minutes long), six times before it resulted in that most watchable version (except for the very end). Most times, publishing crashed Visual Communicator, sometimes it would crash Windows XP as well. I have seen these problems many times on other videos I a have made, on 3 separate computers, including A Dell laptop, and 2 desktop PC's. All of which seem to be working normally otherwise running Windows XP (SP2), with latest updates to DirectX etc. Visual Communicator is a great program when it works, there is nothing else out there like it for making videos. But, these intermittent bugs plague users, like myself, who try to make videos with inserted .AVI files or use double box effects with animated backgrounds, among others. I think these a "memory leak" type programming bugs, because they are very unpredictable and grows worse as the program runs. All three of the aforementioned computers are free of viruses according to Norton Antivirus. Tags: bug visual communicator |

The video above is of the actual one that you would get. This is a COSTUME piece. It is NOT a practical hands free kit as it does not actually leave your hands free. Neither is it suitable for use in a car for when your driving as it is far too quiet. In a room with low ambient noise it works fine but that is as far as I suggest you use it. That all said it is still one of the only Star Trek Bluetooth devices you will find. If this sells well enough I will make another one. The charger that it comes with is designed for use in America but I have a UK adaptor for it. Anywhere else will have to get a travel adaptor for the USA so that they can charge it. It will be sent in a box from firebox.com as I have one which is just the right size. I will include the instructions that came with the hands free along with a labelled picture of the communicator showing where the new button and light positions are.
