Crestview Electricuted CHELCO Lineman Air Lifted to Hospital Crestview, Florida---An unamed CHELCO lineman with more than 18 years experience was flown by Gulf Flight air ambulance to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola Friday afternoon after he made accidental contact with an energized power line. He was with a large crew of Chelco lineman replacing a utility pole on Dogwood Drive in the area of Lake Silver Road. According to Donnie Fugate, CHELCO's Manager of Operations, the lineman suffered flash burns similar to what a fire cracker would cause on his chest. The victim will remain at sacred Heart Hospital for further observation until sometime Saturday. J.E. Smith, CHELCO CEO and General Manager said that the electric cooperatives utmost concern is for the care and well being of the employee and his family. Crestview One Person Traffic Backed-Up from Wreck Crestview, Florida----One individual was taken by EMS to the North Okaloosa Medical Center after the truck he was a passenger in slammed into a power pole just south of the Sonny's Bar-B-Que on South Ferdon Boulevard around 4:30 Sunday afternoon. Heavy southbound weekend traffic had to be diverted for more than 3 hours while crews from Gulf Power, Okaloosa Gas, Embark, and Crestview Public Works repaired damage to their infrastructure at the scene. Crestview, Florida--Violent Home Invasion Crestview, Florida--- The Crestview Police Department is investigating a violent home invasion that occurred sometime late Sunday afternoon at 205 Aza Place, off First Street, near Durrell Lee Park. Police responded to the scene after receiving a 911 phone call stating that something was wrong at the Aza Place address. When they arrived they found a 28-year-old female who had been tied up and beaten. She had been found by her boyfriend who placed the 911 call. The victim was taken by EMS to the North Okaloosa Medical Center for treatment. Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening. Crestview Police investigator, Lt. Jamie Grant said that the victim had given a good description of her assailant. Grant said the suspect is a 6 foot tall heavy built black male wearing a hooded type sweat shirt, black pants and black boots. The FLDOT and local politicians need to do something about this if they ever want the people from the south end of the county to come visit and take advantage of the opportunities available in this great mini-city located off the Interstate. Crestview, Florida Traffic Creash claims the life of local m Crestview, Florida---A Labor Day afternoon traffic accident has claimed the life of a seventy four-year-old Crestview man. James Boydston was pronounced dead around 6 pm. Monday evening at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. Boydston was transported from the scene of an accident at State Road 85 and Live Oak Road by Gulf Flight air ambulance after the truck he was driving struck another vehicle and then flipped over in the middle of the road. A total of three vehicles were involved in the wreck that occurred around 2 Monday afternoon. None of the passengers in the other two vehicles were severely injured or required treatment. Wreckage from the accident completely filled the intersection, and heavy north bound holiday traffic on State Road 85 had to be re-routed down Live Oak Road for more than an hour as emergency personnel cleaned up the mess. Crestview Okaloosa Deputies Recover Missing Vehicle Crestview, Florida----Around 2 pm. Sunday Aug. 5 the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office recovered this Dodge Dakota Pick-up truck abandoned on Arena Road with the front half of the vehicle extended out in the roadway and the back half suspended over a culvert in the woods. Upon further investigation, lawmen were able to contact the owner who said that the truck was supposed to be at Baggett and Son's Automotive in Crestview getting repaired. The incident is still under investigation as to who removed the truck from Baggetts' when it was removed, and why it was abandoned on Arena Road. It is the second truck in two days that deputies have found involved in a wreck and abandoned along the long stretch of dirt road that runs parallel to the City of Crestview's sewage treatment plant. According to witnesses at the scene of this wreck on Arena Road Saturday, the driver of this Ford F150 truck crawled out out and ran east down Arena Road bleeding from the head. Crestview---Tropical Palm Restaurant Broken Into Crestview, Florida---Crestview Police Investigators are aggressively chasing leads into a burglary that occurred at the Tropical Palm Restaurant, located on North Main Street in downtown Crestview Sunday night. When an employee arrived for work before sun up Monday morning she noticed the back door was open and immediately called police. Investigators would not comment as to whether or not they have any specific suspects that they are looking at, or as to the contents of the cash drawer that was taken. Crestview, Roll Over on Arena Road Crestview, Florida--The driver of this Ford 150 pick-up truck crawled out and fled the scene after he lost control and rolled it over on Arena Road around 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon. According to witnesses at the scene the driver was fish tailing down the road at a high rate of speed when the accident occurred. Witnesses said they saw the driver crawl out and run east down Arena Road bleeding from the head. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the law enforcement agency tasked with investigating the accident, once a good distance away from the accident scene, the driver of the vehicle contacted his parents and told them what had happened. They came to the accident scene to cooperate with the Florida Highway Patrol. A search of the area by Okaloosa County Sheriff Deputies failed to locate the driver. No felony charges are associated with the incident. Once located, the driver could be charged with reckless driving. Tags: Crestview Communtiy Television
