Rush's "Cygnus X-1" on bass - LRRG This is my tribute video to this epic Rush tune about a space explorer that intentionally enters a black hole. Cygnus X-1 is both challenging and potentially boring in places for the average bass video viewer. So, I filled in the more boring places with all kinds of space footage and videos of black holes. Basically, this video is a tribute to Rush and to this great tune...in the end, it is almost on the level of a cheezy music video. I'm proud of it, anyway. This is the second attempt at uploading this video. Youtube made the first one go badly out of synch. Apologies to those that may have viewed or commented on the other video; this song is too precise to be a half a second off. This video is best viewed with good speakers or headphones, as are all bass videos done by Youtube's plethora of bass Living-Room Rock Gods. By the way, I am NOT going to make all of my videos like this. Takes too much time editing, and not enough playing...but it was fun to flesh this idea out. Rush - Cygnus X-1 Rush's Cygnus X-1 Duology consists of Book I: The Voyage and Book II: Hemispheres. Book I is the last track on the 1977 "A Farewell to Kings album". The story line is In the constellation of Cygnus lies a mysterious black hole that is simply titled "Cygnus X-1" (Cygnus X-1 is believed to be an actual black hole). An explorer aboard the ship "Rocinante" (pronounced ross-in-ahn-tay) is curious about the black hole and begins to investigate, wondering if an old tale might be true: "Atomized at the core/Or through the astral door/To soar..." As he moves closer, it becomes increasingly difficult to control the ship and he is eventually drawn in by the pull of gravity. His final words in Book I are: "Sound and fury drowns my heart/Every nerve is torn apart." It may be worth noting that the name of the ship, "Rocinante", is the name of Don Quixote's horse, in the novel "Don Quixote" by Miguel de Cervantes. It is also the name John Steinbeck gives to the modified camper truck in which he travelled the country in his book Travels With Charley. Just some useless info there.
