Dogtown Ragin' Pool Party 30 Years Later: BLACK OCEAN "Free" A ragin' pool party at Nate Bressler's house in Dogtown (Venice Beach, Cali) thirty years after the original Z-Boys raged and cultivated a scene and culture that just keeps living on and on...Dogtown's not dead, it lives! Pro surfer and x-pro skater Tas, singer/guitarist of Black Ocean, lives both in Dogtown and at The Ikarus Artist Commune and is keeping the stoke alive with the present scene with the CST chapter in Venice. Tas has been called "The Godfather of Skate & Surf" for Greece in the media. The full length surf/sk8/music documentary film "Thoughtless Rebellion" starring Tas will be released in 2009. Tas is also featured in two other upcoming films "Transcending ART" and "Pure Source Primal Force". Tas's roots go way back to the day with skating, surfing, and/or working professionally with Tony Alva, Peggy Oki, Allen Sarlo, Jay Adams, and other Z Boys and he was the Intl Longboard Skateboard Association President at one point. Tas has played support dates with over fifty national acts including Iggy Pop, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Meat Puppets, Jesus Lizard, JFA, Goo Goo Dolls, TSOL, Jimmy Cliff, Screaming Trees, Scream, Melvins, Social Distortion, and Royal Trux, and has performed on-stage with members of Black Flag, Bad Religion, REM, Nine Inch Nails, Flogging Molly, The Replacements, NOFX, Social Distortion, My Morning Jacket, Goo Goo Dolls, Danzig, and Agent Orange, from hardcore shows at New York City's now closed legendary CBGB's (over 50 shows) to punk shows at Las Vegas' House Of Blues, to metal shows at Hollywood's Sunset Strip icon Whisky A Go-Go. Black Ocean headlined The Ikarus Rock Festival in 2008.
