He and his female counterpart, An, appear only in the anime. The two aliens arrived on Earth with the Makaiju, their "Tree of life." If the tree dies, they will die. The two aliens pretend to be students at Juuban Junior High School. Al's human identity is as Seijuurou Ginga, the brother of Natsumi Ginga (An). Al use Cardians. An selects one of Al's cards from a deck, and Al summons that cardian forth with his flute. Because the Makaiju is a reflection of the type of energy that is fed to it, when Al and An take energy by force, the tree grows evil and reacts violently. The tree attacks Al, but An runs in front of the attack to protect him, and is killed by the Makaiju. Al is so distraught over An's death that he finally realizes love, and the tree stops attacking. AMV: i never want to split the to Alien, but now it happend. and not very well xD however.. this is not really a pure Ail amv - it shows the alien and their story. in my opinion it was more sensible to do it like that. The tree is actually the mother of the two aliens, and at one tme had many other children that gave it energy. Eventually, the children became greedy and jealous of each other, and began fighting for power. They all destroyed each other, except for An and Al, who were small children. Dessa talks hooking up with Doomtree Dessa is truly a Renaissance woman. She's a spoken word poet, an emcee for local rap family Doomtree, and a Jerome Grant recipient who also moonlights as a technical writer by day. Her solo release "False Hopes", earned her a spot on the Star Tribune's "Top Ten Local Releases" in 2005. David Brusie of Rift Magazine aptly described Dessa's voice as "equal parts Ani Difranco and Mos Def".
