Michael Drayton 'The Ballad of Agincourt' The Ballad of Agincourt by Michael Drayton 1563-1631 read by David Shaw Parker Fair stood the wind for France, When we our sails advance, Nor now to prove our chance, Longer will tarry; But putting to the main At Kaux, the mouth of Seine, With all his martial train, Landed King Harry. And taking many a fort, Furnished in warlike sort, Marcheth towards Agincourt, In happy hour; Skirmishing day by day With those that stopp'd his way, Where the French general lay With all his power. Which in his height of pride, King Henry to deride, His ransom to provide To the King sending; Which he neglects the while As from a nation vile, Yet with angry smile Their fall portending. And turning to his men, Quoth our brave Henry then: Though they be one to ten, Be not amazed. Yet have we well begun, Battles so bravely won Have ever to the sun By fame rased. And for myself, quoth he, This my full rest shall be, England ne'er mourn for me, Nor more esteem me; Victor I will remain, Or on this earth lie slain, Never shall she sustain Loss to redeem me. Poitiers and Crecy tell, When most their pride did swell, Under our swords they fell; No less our skill is Than when our grandsire great, Claiming a regal seat By many a warlike feat, Lopped the French lilies. The Duke of York so dread The eager vaward led; With the main Henry sped Amongst his henchmen. Exeter had the rear, A braver man not there, Oh Lord, how hot they were On the false Frenchmen! They now to fight are gone, Armor on armor shone, Drum now to drum did groan, To hear was wonder, That with the cries they make The very earth did shake, Trumpet to trumpet spake, Thunder to thunder. Well it thine age became, Oh noble Erpingham, Which didst the signal aim To our hid forces; When from a meadow by, Like a storm suddenly, The English archery Struck the French horses. With Spanish yew so strong, Arrows a cloth-yard long, That like to serpents stung, Piercing the weather; None from his fellow starts, But playing manly parts, And like true English hearts, Stuck close together. When down their bows they threw, And forth their bilboes drew, And on the French they flew, Not one was tardy; Arms were from shoulders sent, Scalps to the teeth were rent, Down the French peasants went; Our men were hardy. This while our noble King, His broad sword brandishing, Down the French host did ding, As to o'erwhelm it; And many a deep wound lent, His arms with blood bespent, And many a cruel dent Bruised his helmet. Gloster, that Duke so good, Next of the royal blood, For famous England stood With his brave brother; Clarence, in steel so bright, Though but a maiden night, Yet in that furious fight, Scarce such another. Warwick in blood did wade, Oxford the foe invade, And cruel slaughter made, Still as they ran up; Suffolk his ax did ply, Beaumont and Willoughby Bare them right doughtily, Ferrers and Fanhope. Upon St. Crispin's day Fought was this noble fray, Which fame did not delay To England to carry; Oh when shall English men With such acts fill a pen, Or England breed again Such a King Harry? This time, I catch it at Drayton St. in North Newhall/ Santa Clarita. This crossing has A Safetran Hybrid bell and a Modern Industries Mechanical bell, Very cool, and the MI bell is rare for Metrolink. After the train passes, I continue recording to get the train blowing its horn for Oak Ridge Dr., about 3/4 of a mile south of this crossing. Three Feet from Gold Nugget - Drayton McLane The Napoleon Hill Foundation has partnered with Greg S. Reid and Sharon L. Lechter to present the principles of Think and Grow Rich in a new, updated, and entertaining fable. Now readers from around the world will unwrap the teachings of Napoleon Hill through the contemporary story of one man's quest to uncover the keys to success from current leaders and luminaries. Imagine the opportunity of a lifetime delivered to you by one person's mistake. In a rush, a coat-checker gave a customer the wrong coat. However, this was no ordinary coat—it belonged to the one person who was willing and able to deliver the principles needed to attain success, happiness and fulfillment in a young man's life. Three Feet from Gold is the story of Mike Vas, a fictional character, who, at a low point in his life, was given an unexpected opportunity to sit across from some of the most successful people alive today. A business card inside of the misplaced jacket identified its owner as Jon Buckland, one of the most successful people in the world. While Mike was tempted to keep the garment for himself, he realized a greater opportunity lay with meeting the owner if Mike returned the lost item. Buckland was pleased that Mike was honest enough to correct the mistake, so much so, that Buckland decided to offer his personal assistance to help the young man prosper—the kind of assistance Andrew Carnegie once gave one of his student so many years ago. Three Feet from Gold expounds on the discoveries made by Napoleon Hill when he interviewed the wealthiest and most successful people of his era. This new classic in the making updates Hill's findings by including insights from current captains of success, it also presents the principles in an accessible story. While Mike and his mentor Buckland are fictional figures, the people Mike meets along his journey are not. For this book, author Greg Reid, with the aid of the Napoleon Hill Foundation, interviewed people who have achieved their goals and lived their dreams, including: Dave Liniger (Co-founder of REMAX Realty) Julie Krone (Professional female athlete of the year) Truett Cathy (Founder of Chick-Fil-A) James Amos (Former CEO, MBE/UPS Stores) Jack Mates (Founding CEO, Velcro USA) Ed Foreman (Only person elected to Congress in two states) Charlie 'Tremendous' Jones (Inspirational Giant) Paul J. Meyer (Self made Billionaire) John Schwarz (Co-creator 'String Theory') Joe Dudley (Founder Dudley Cosmetics) Don Green (Exec Director Napoleon Hill Foundation) Evander Holyfield (Boxing Champion) Mike Helton (President, NASCAR) Wally Amos (Famous Amos Cookies) Dr. Tom Haggai (Chairman, Heratio Alger Committee) Ruben Gonzalez (Three time Winter Olympian) Drayton McLane (Chairman Houston Astros Franchise) JaHja Ling (Acclaimed Symphony Conductor) Richard Cohn (Publisher, The Secret) Ronald D. Glosser (Former president of Goodyear Bank, retired president and CEO of The Hershey Trust and the M.S. Hershey Foundation.) Jack Faris (Former president and CEO of the National Federation of Independent Business) Jerry Heffel (Past pres. Southwestern Company) Michael Laine (Founder and president of LiftPort, Inc., builders of the space elevator) John St Augustine (Exec Director, 'Oprah and Friends') These personalities share their experiences, insights, challenges, and achievements. Their guidance and advice are taken from interviews Reid conducted in person. Their words are more than simple quotes, paraphrases, and anecdotes gleamed from other projects; the words are the actual stories, told in their own words, about what it takes to champion ones field. The combination of real-world individuals in a fictional setting makes Three Feet from Gold accessible to a broad readership, while increasing the impact of the lessons learned. In this fable, Mike Vas learns lessons that transform his life. Reader travels with him, gaining insights on how to apply these teachings to their own situations with the over-arching moral of "never quit before the miracle happens."
