Eurostar at Waterloo - The Last Day 13th November 2007 During the afternoon we see Eurostars at Beckenham Junction, Kent House and Brixton. The last passenger services to depart Waterloo were the 18:09 Paris and the 18:12 Brussles which was named "Waterloo Sunset" are seen at Vauxhall. The group of men taking photographs at Vauxhall were involved in the construction of Waterloo International. And that was it, the end of a short and interesting railway era. As the last passengers passed through Waterloo, security equipment was being dismantled for reuse at the new Ebbesfleet International. Overnight, operations moved to St Pancras and the first train departed just after 11am. Waterloo International is now mothballed. The Eurostar trains quickly had their third rail equipment removed. Eurostar on High / Low speed UK track The last few ever runs of the Eurostar on the low speed section where the high speed track joins the UK's third rail system. Video was shot on 12 November 2007, before the move from London-Waterloo to London St.Pancras on 14 November 2007. The train beep was for me, as I was photographing the Eurostar from the other side of the bridge and the driver spotted me. The audio is in sync, it's the acoustics of the location that make it sound like it's out of sync. The trains in this clip were actually 5 minutes apart. Eurostar Farningham Road & High Speed One 10th November 2007 This film starts at Farningham Road, the last station on the Chatham line before Eurostar trains branch off at Fawkham Junction onto the 2 mile spur that leads to High Speed One, formally Channel Tunnel Rail Link section 1. Opened in 2003 the spur was laid on the disused track bed of the line to Gravesend West Street. It is on this line that Eurostars switch between the Southern Region 750v 3rd rail and the 25kv overhead systems. Lineside signs tell the driver when to do this. If you look closely at the 4th scene you will see the pantograph spring up onto the wire. Signalling systems also change between the TVM430 in-cab used on HS1 and conventional colour light signals of the Southern Region. At Southfleet the line curves onto HS1. Eurostar (inside and outside) from Fawkham to Southfleet An edited view from inside a Eurostar cut together with various views of bridges along the Fawkham to Southfleet junction, the old section of track in the UK where the Eurostar leaves/joins the third rail/overhead power system. The last vantage point is the same bridge, but different sides of it and edited to look like one smooth shot.
