WATCHMEN, page 5 - fan film I am the creator of this WATCHMEN short. I made this as a final project in a media production class as a senior in high school. I tried to adapt page 5 of the graphic novel, WATCHMEN, into a movie. As you will probably notice, I followed Sin City's production techniques and used some of the score that best fit the mood of the page in my opinion. I did the best I could. This was my final film production for the University that I had to create for my advanced directing class. All in all, it was a lot of fun to create and it was a lot of hard work. I've always had fun with creating "fan films" ... I'd like to think that we (my whole cast & crew) were really tipping our hats to those that gave us inspiration. Battlestar Galactica is a spectacular television show on Sci-Fi and I would highly recommend anyone to view it. This film was more of a technical challenge to see just how far could we go, as far as telling a story with a lot of visual effect shots. Which, was a tremendous achievement at the University because a story of this scale has never been done before. Again, my good buddy, Jorge G. helped out with this project. If you'll notice from the credits of all of my films, you'll see how he's my right hand man... partner in crime, if you will. But now that my student film projects come to an end, its with a heavy heart that this film is my last fan film I'll ever make. From this moment on, everything will be 100% original and I think that you, the viewers, are going to enjoy the films that I plan to work on next. Light The Way (A Starwars Fanfilm) The question any starwars fan asks wonders -- What if Lightsabers are real. ______________________________________ A word from the Director: Written May 14 2008 (1 1/2 years after completion of "Light The Way") I started on Light The Way in August of 2006 and completed it in a short six months premiering it in December of that year. I look at this film as the crossroads of three years of study at my High School. This film signifies a lot of firsts for me. -My first "major" script. -The first time I had no utside help in regards to filming an editing. -The first time I had done any serious directing -My first shot at special fxs. Although I had worked with my teacher back then on a lot of stuff he kept the paseing and the structure on set. On this project I had to do all those things. I judge this movie a lot on it's technical aspects, and more importantly it's depth as a story. I understood how much it takes to create a detailed and rich story after completing this film and those lessons carry over to the way I conduct my self in more recent projects. I realize that this film Is not going to win an oscar for acting camera work or directing but it was a start for me and one I will never forget. I hope you enjoy it for what it is and what I see it as. A 17 year old teenager's first attempt at a major story, and now a concept for something much bigger, and much larger. Light The Way: Awakening a full over haul of the story. In February of 2009 I will show you the true vision of this story. So for now I hope you enjoy this 40 minute "treatment" and know that there is MUCH more to come in the future.
