The IEMP was founded in 2006 in order to promote the early music (c. 1850 and before) by presenting concerts both to the audience in Israel and abroad. Started as the Jerusalem Baroque Trio, made of mandolin, recorder and viola da gamba, the ensemble was leading the early music department at the Jerusalem Academy for Music and Dance, winning first place at the academy's chamber music competition and performing widely all over Israel several times in prestigious concert programs and radio broadcasts. During the year 2008 the trio toured London and Oxford, and moved to study at the Brussels Royal Conservatory after receiving a scholarship from the European Union. The IEMP puts as a goal to itself to perform in Israel's finest festivals and concert venues, as well as in educational concerts in the deep periphery where the early music is completely unknown. . Girolamo Frescobaldi(1583 - 1643): Se Laura Spira Girolamo Frescobaldi nació en Ferrara. Estudió a las órdenes del organista y famoso madrigalista Luzzasco Luzzaschi en Ferrara. Otra de sus tempranas influencias fue la de Carlo Gesualdo, también presente por aquella época en la misma ciudad. Su mentor Enzo Bentivoglio le ayudó a conseguir una plaza de organista en la iglesia de Santa María de Trastevere en Roma en la primavera de 1607. Con él viajó a los Países Bajos antes de convertirse en organista de la Basílica de San Pedro de Roma en 1608, plaza que ocupó hasta su muerte. Desde 1628 a 1634 fue organista en la corte de los Médicis en Florencia. Escribió un gran número de obras para órgano y clavicémbalo, incluyendo tocatas, caprichos, fantasías, canciones, ricercare (nombre genérico para cualquier pieza con contrapunto), danzas y variaciones. Entre sus obras más conocidas se encuentran las Fiori musicali (1635), una colección de obras de órgano para ser tocadas durante la misa. Publicó dos libros de tocatas entre 1615 y 1637, entre las que se encuentra la Cento Partite, una de sus obras más virtuosas y experimentales. Su música vocal incluye misas, motetes y madrigales. The majority of Frescobaldi's extant output consists of keyboard music. His renowned prowess at the keyboard earned him several important international students, such as Johann Jacob Froberger, who composed pieces highly reminiscent of Frescobaldi's. The Fiori Musicali and the two books of Toccatas and Partitas are his most important keyboard works. His two books of Toccatas and Partitas are written in copper-engraved keyboard tablature for the harpsichord or organ, and were published between 1615 and 1637. Both books open with a set of twelve toccatas written in a flamboyant improvisatory style and alternating fast-note runs or passaggi with more intimate and meditative parts, called affetti, plus short bursts of contrapuntal imitation. In these toccatas, Frescobaldi makes ample use of sharp, unprepared dissonances and other harmonies daring for the time, as well as of virtuosic techniques that make some of these pieces challenging even for modern performers - such as his Toccata IX of Book II, which he himself labeled with the words "Not without toil will you get to the end." Besides the toccatas, these books feature partitas on popular motives and basses of the time, as well as 6 canzoni, dances, hymns and other compositions such as the Cento Partite Sopra Passachagli, one of his most virtuosic and experimental works. These two books are prefaced by Frescobaldi's own advice on interpretation, where the composer articulates the "theory of musical affections" prevalent at the time.
