LUXEDO "You Really Suck" The heady & hedonist daze & nites on the road. Acting up in faraway places, crashing parties, running up hefty drink bills, attempting runners, gettin' sprung. All-nite self-destruction fuelled by questionable substance(s), with all hell to pay next day. This is evidence of Luxedo in tour mode 1999, filmed by band mascot & comrade Anthony "Beast" Batiste. All of the debauchery occurred in Sydney. It goes with the single released the same year. The band at this stage was Tom Carlyon (guitar/vocal), Emilie Martin (guitar/violin/vocal), Craig Williamson (drums), Stu Thomas (bass/vocal). Some people called this the 2nd "classic" lineup. Ha, ha, ha. Some people don't know shit... The 1st "classic" lineup was Tom, Emilie, Jamie Coghill (drums), Dan Brodie (bass). "Irony" was written by Stu Thomas, performed by The Brass Bed, and appears on their "Save Your Breath" album. Features the "Irony Maidens" as backing voices, a choir plugged together from some fine Melbourne lady singers, including Anna Burley (The Killjoys), Astrid Munday and Emilie Martin (Luxedo). This film is part of the "Super8 Video LP" DVD, and features live footage of The Brass Bed playing at The 9th Ward in Melbourne. The bleached-out effect was achieved by painting bleach directly to the film.
