Smogon's Truth: The Real Garchomp Story I have reverted to pokemon related subjects for this video due to the influx of Garchomp as uber vids. This is tongue in cheek stuff, enjoy. My opinion on the matter is, it makes f* all difference either way. Every team carries a Slamance/Garchomp resistance in standard battles, and maybe a second who has the capabilities to take it down too. Removing one of that pair leaves the other just as prolific and changes little in terms of usage of other pokes. Smogon is just trying to shake things up a little. Take out a major player and watch the metagame revamp itself and get interesting agaian instead of collecting dust. They couldn't have picked a more popular target though and most battlers so far seem to be ignoring Smogon for the first time in my memory and just using Chomp regardless... But then again what do I know? Have my opinions on the subject been universally accepted for years until now? Hardly, there is method behind their madness and I can see the game accepting it, reluctantly, given time. Prediction is not a surefire counter, because it doesn't work all of the time. I know there are a million +1 videos about this, but why not a million +2? A Rant on Garchomp Rants... Yeh I'm fully prepared to lose some subs for this. It doesn't matter. ~Things I didnt say in the video. Kind of a Q+A type thing. Q: I don't really get your video. What is your stance on Garchomp? Uber or no? A:I don't really care. I don't use him so it's not like I've been robbed of something I enjoy using. I can also handle my opponents Garchomps just fine. If he's uber that's fine if he's OU that's fine too. Q: How can you blindly follow smogon like this? A: I am not really blindly following them. Smogon is really the only full competitive battling site and when they make rule changes/tier changes other sites tend to follow. So really it's a universal change not just one that smogon made, and there's not much I can do to get around it. I do agree that some of the stuff they say is insanely stupid but eh what are you gonna do... Q: Why can't I still use chomp? He's not uber in my opinion and if I allow him that balances it out right? A: Well no it doesn't balance it out. Not all people will think the same way you do thus they wont use garchomp or prepare for him on their teams. You don't really have a right to force them to change their teams just to battle you. Q: He sucks in ubers so he shouldn't be in that tier. A: Irrelevant. Sure people play ubers but it's more of a ban list than anything. Wobb fails in Ubers but do you want him in OU? Garchomp will hold his own in ubers anyways so that statement is not only irrelevant, it isn't even true. Q: A fast pokemon using Ice moves kills chomp. A: A fast pokemon using Ice moves kills rayquaza too. Suppose you want him to be allowed in standard? Q: If they are going to ban chomp why not ban blissey or Cress? A: Well I can't explain why they don't ban cress but they pretty much can't ban Blissey because like people say She is the best special wall. She's not just the best no one else really comes close to what she can do. So if they ban Blissey Special sweepers will run rampant and demolish everything in their path. Stuff like Alakazam,Gengar,Azelf will just piss all over teams. Q:Why not just ban one set of chomp? The yache one can be banned but others ok. A:I believe Etceteraetcetera from Regi League said it best. I hope he doesn't mind me quoting him. "You cannot make ONE set for a Pokemon Uber, because if you say "oh, well I can use specschomp because it's not REALLY that good", you're saying that you want to use a Pokemon for the sheer point of taking away what is BEST about it. SD Yache Chomp is uber. Specs Chomp is uber. SR+Roar Chomp is uber. Each set may not be broken, but one is, and thus we cannot keep it around just so that people can use sets that aren't at its full potential."
