Guardians of the Seed As progress moves towards industrialisation and modernisation of farming and food processing a sad casualty is biodiversity as third world and traditional farmers are encouraged to adopt modern hybrid varieties and chemical farming techniques, often unsuited to their environment and needs. Along with this is a loss of traditional knowledge of the cultural, nutritive and medicinal uses of food plants. This is a small clip from our upcoming documentary film highlighting how traditional farmers act as the preservers of biodiversity and traditional culture. Filmed in Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, India, Sri Lanka, Umbria, Taiwan, France and Italy. Guardians of The Galaxy #1, Tor #1, GeNext #1 Guardians of the Galaxy is a spin off of the Nova Galaxy and Annihilation Conquest. Pete's got issues with this one and Justin agrees. Alex says it's a great first issue. Then we all agree on Tor #1. It's fun and Joe Kubert's art is top notch. GeneXt #1 shows the grandchildren of the original X-Men and depicts them as actual kids. It's got a nice old school X-Men feel and brings in lots of old X-Men characters. Then in the Speed Round we've got Gemini #1, House of Mystery #1, Batman: Death Mask #2, Scud #24 and Pretty Baby Machine #1. In our viewer mail we talk about how important Superhero merchandise is to the comic book industry. Be sure to catch The Stack three times a week at Pulpsecret.com! Guardians of dogs & cats - this is for you For the many who work tirelessly to find cats & dogs homes, if you have not already, please consider adopting a vegan diet. The only real difference between a cat or dog & a pig is that we have may have a personal relationship with the cat or dog, but not with the pig. However, there is no difference in the value as a sentient being between cats & dogs and animals raised for food. The only difference is in our minds, but it doesn't make it so. Animals raised on factory farms are just as worthy of our respect, protection and consideration as cats & dogs and they each individually have their own personalities, feelings, likes and dislikes. Sadly these are never discovered or expressed as they suffer in confinement on factory farms. Business profits from animals suffering and most of society consumes meat, dairy and other animal products so society are complicit with this abuse and exploitation. There is a huge disconnect because the public may become outraged at the abuse of a dog or cat, and yet ignores the billions who are suffering terible abuse in factory farms each year. However, the fact that animal exploitation is widely condoned by the public does not mean that animals are of lesser importance. It also does not mean they are of less importance than those species we have a personal relationship with like dogs and cats. Animal exploitation industries do their best to not only portray "farm" animals as stupid, or dirty, or whatever will lower them in the minds of the public, but often time they portray them as being happy to be killed for their flesh.. Suicide food is the name for this absurd portrayal. Suicide food is a ridiculous notion, but it is intentional marketing by industries and those that wish to profit from animal suffering and exploitation. A similiar type of portayal of human slaves was presented to the public many years ago in the US which allowed the public to consider a particular group of humans as lesser or "animals". The message that animals are lesser and objects or property to be used is so deep in the psyche of society today that when this speciesist mistaken attitude is confronted, people can become quite angry and defensive. But in fact all life forms do not rely on the judgement and benevolence of one species. They exist for their own reason and their value should not and does not have any relationship with the importance we place on them. So please consider that if you truly respect and care for nonhumans, include along with your feline and canine friend, *all* animals. Consider not eating meat or consuming dairy or wearing animal products, for all animal products are derived from great suffering and death. If you wouldn't put your feline or canine friend through the suffering that is placed on "farm" animals, then consider that those "farm" animals who equally deserve this consideration. Speak out against animal exploitation. Factoryfarming.com - check out the images Nonhumans love life just as we do. They feel pain and they deserve respect, rights and protection. We cannot truly say we respect and care for animals if we eat them. Until all nonhuman animal exploitation ends, there will never be peace or justice. "G-Force: Guardians of Space" (1986) - Ep.18 (Part 1 of 3) Episode title: "Submarino Ballena" ("The Whale Submarine") (Pilot) Summary: A huge whale attacks and cripples a metropolis along with it's bridges and harbors. When all "fingers" point to the involvement of the sinister alien Galactor and his men, Dr. Benjamin Brighthead dispatches his secret "G-Force" organization (consisting of leader Ace Goodheart, second-in command Dirk Daring, Agatha June, Pee Wee and Hoot Owl, pilot of the team's ship "Pheonix") and sends them to further investigate these incidents. With the help of an orphaned baby whale that youngest member Pee Wee rescued, G-Force with Pheonix in tow head to the Artic Circle, which all leads point to as the location of a hidden, underground base belonging to Galactor, from where he plans to launch a fleet of deadly whale submarines set to attack harbors all over the world. ---------------------------- This is the first of two pilot episodes to "G-Force: Guardians of Space" (1986), itself the second of three English dubs to Tatsunoko Productions' "Science Ninja Team Gatchaman" (1972), following "Battle of the Planets" (1978) and preceding ADV Film's uncut Gatchaman release (2005). Unlike some shows whose pilot episodes are also their first episodes (like the aforementioned "Battle of the Planets"), the producers behind "G-Force" selected two out-of-order "Gatchaman" episodes as the pilots for the adaptation, with this episode being the first and "Galactor's Deadly Trap" (Episode 85, originally "Gatchaman" Episode 87) being the second pilot and coincidentally the last episode of the "G-Force" dub. The pilots to "G-Force" are unique amongst the rest of its episodes for having replaced all of the original Gatchaman music with new music composed by Dean Andre, which was part of the proposed additional music score that would've replaced Hoyt Curtin's score from "Battle of the Planets". Due to budget constraints, the new score wasn't utilized beyond the pilots and left on the cutting room floor, with the rest of G-Force's episodes retaining the Gatchaman score and supplementing it with the sole synth instrumental that was able to be afforded. Unfortunately, seeing as "G-Force" had more of a following in the international market than in the U.S. and aired more frequently abroad, I only have the Spanish dub of this episode to offer you as foreign-language dubs of the show's episodes are ironically easier to get ahold of than the original English ones. It also doesn't help matters that "G-Force" hasn't been released in it's entirety on home video (to this day). All fans of the "G-Force" dub should lobby for a full DVD release, as it's the only possible way to save the show and ever see it again!!! Meanwhile, enjoy the episode!!! "G-Force: Guardians of Space" (1986) - Opening This is the opening sequence to "G-Force: Guardians of Space" (1986), the second of three English adaptations to Tatsunoko Productions' "Science Ninja Team Gatchaman" (1972), following Sandy Frank Entertainment's initial effort "Battle of the Planets" 1978 and preceding ADV Film's recent uncut, unedited release, known as just "Gatchaman" (2005). The opening to "G-Force" utilizes some pieces of the original "Gatchaman"'s openings, but also utilizes scenes from the first episode and most notably the two designated "pilot" episodes to this adaptation (Episodes 18 and 85, the latter originally Gatch Episode 87), ending with a slide of the "G-Force" title screen which unfortunately is not animated (most likely due to the tight budget the dub was produced on). Unlike its "Gatchaman" and "Battle of the Planets" breathren, "G-Force" didn't have title cards at the beginning of its episodes which made following the show and its' individual episodes quite difficult. Foreign-language dubs of G-Force attempted to correct this oversight by having the narrator announce the episode title at the start of each episode.
