WONDER OF TIME/SAID-I NURSI LAST MUJADDID BEFORE MAHDI A Mujaddid (Arabic: مجدد), in Islamic tradition, refers to a person who, Muslims believe, is sent by God in the first half of every century of the Islamic calendar.As it says in the hadith: "Allah shall raise for this Umma at the head of every century a man who shall renew (or revive) for it its religion" The mujaddid's objective is to revive Islam, remove from it any extraneous elements and to restore it to its pristine state. WONDER OF THE AGE Bediuzzaman Said Nursi was born a century ago, in 1873, in a village in eastern Anatolia, Nurs, from which he received the name Nursi. He received his basic education from the best-known scholars of the district. The extraordinary intelligence and capability of learning that he showed at a very early age made him popular with his teachers, colleagues and the people. When he was sixteen years old, he silenced the distinguished scholars who had invited him to a debate (debate was then a popular practice among scholars). This later recurred several more times with various groups of soholars, and he thereby began to be called Bediuzzaman (Wonder of the Age). In his address to 10,000 people in a mosque in Damascus (Hijri 1327), Bediuzzaman explained the future of the Islamic world after Hijri 1371. In this address, he gave some dates about the End Times and called attention to the Mahdi's struggle. In his explanations, Bediuzzaman pointed to the beginning of the fifteenth Islamic century as the time of Mahdi's advent. In one of his explanations, Bediuzzaman relates that Mahdi will come 1,400 years after the Blessed Period. And, after completing a lifetime of almost a century, with every minute spent in the service of faith, Bediuzzaman Said Nursi departed from this world on the morning of March 23, 1960, with complete honor, dignity and victory, leaving behind him a work that would illuminate this and the forthcoming centuries and a love that would be handed over from generation to generation until eternity. They were really hurt and offended by being called so and explained that "mostly wars make people migrate to other places and this makes them lose their lands and thus foods".But still the methods I will explain you for obtaining proteins and solving hunger are at least useful against poverty and chronicle diseases of our day like Diabetes , Cancer and High cholesterol. So what's chronical hunger or Medically described protein deficiency ?We need 22 amino acids daily that we take from proteins. 14 of these amino acids can be produced by our body but 8 of them can not. So these 8 are "called essential amino acids" and foods containing these amino acids are called First Grade protein Foods like meat,poultry, dairy products,eggs and soya.According to medical considerations, the daily protein need of a person is 0.75 gr/kg..Namely a 50 kg person needs 37,5 gr 1. grade protein a day If we add 30 % defatted(containing 51% protein) soy flour-75 gr- to 250 gr bread-which is almost the global standard- an avarage person's daily protein requirement will be fulfilled perfectly.Such a "SMART BREAD" is the shortest solution for chronicle hunger of the world .In 1995 I wrote an article about the subject in Turkey and the municipality of Sivas city began to produce this bread after consulting me and the Medicine Faculty in their city. They put only 5 % defatted soya flour in bread.This added the nutrition value of one glass of milk(200 grams= 20 cents )in each bread & they produced 20.000 breads /day. There was a profit of 40.000USD/day to people which meant 1,5 million USD/year and the total profit was 3 million USD in the 2 years they made it. I wrote that if this was done nationwide with 30 % soya flour there would be a profit of about 4 milliard USD/year compared to meat consumption but as you may guess the politicians did not pay the faintest attention to my words. It is clear that the reason of hunger in the world is again us human beings.Of course such a protein intake would also cure chronicler diseases like Diabetes , Cancer and High cholesterol in Turkey and at least 30 milliard dollars spent for these illnesses per year would be saved. Anyway the second way is ,as you know it is possible to make products like milk,cheese,yogurt,meatball,etc from soybeans. Some works erected during his period are; Museum of Archaeology of Istanbul, Museum of Oriental Masterpieces, Grand Trading Centre, The Italian Embassy, Haydarpasha Medical School, The Building of the General Debts and The Ottoman Bank, Karakoy Trade Centre, The Palace of Macka, Is Bank Ankara, The Sırkeci Station, Kutahya Ulu Mosque, Istanbul Yıldız Hamidiye Mosque, Cihangir Mosque. Sultan Abdul Hamid II had established universities, an Academy of Fine Arts, Schools of Finance and Agriculture. Moreover, he opened many primary schools, high schools, blind and handicapped schools. He had Sisli Etfal Hospital and Poorhouse built with his own money. He had the excellent drinking water called Hamidiye brought to Istanbul. He extended highways until the internal parts of Anatolia and had railways spread through Baghdad and Medina. He also was actively interested in the theater, as is evidenced by the construction of the small imperial theater amid the palace complex. He attended the Emir Buhari Quarter School, Fatih Elementary School and the School of Politics and during his years at high school, he attended the lectures at Fatih Mosque and learned Arabian and Persian.He attended the Halkalı School of Veterinarian, after his father died and their house burned down and he graduated with the first degree (1893). He worked as a civil officer at the Department of veterinarian at the Ministry of Agriculture and worked in Rumelia, Anatolia, Albania and Saudi Arabia for four years. . He got married in 1989 and had six children. Also working as a teacher at the School of Veterinarian, Akif published the reviews Sırat-ı Müstakim and Sebilürreşad with his friend Eşref Edib in 1908. He resigned from his office due to the Balkan War (1913). He went to Egypt and Hejaz before the World War I began (1913). He was sent to Germany during the war by the Ottoman Intelligence Service on the invitation of the German government in order to see the Muslim captives in Germany in 1914. Meanwhile he was appointed as the first secretary to High Islamic Council.He tried to encourage people in his preaches at mosques in order to support the National Struggle rising in the Western Anatolia after the invasion of İzmir (1919). Shortly after his arrival in Ankara, he was elected as deputy and served at this office until 1923. His poem was enthusiastically read out at the Turkish Grand National Assembly and was accepted as the National Anthem (21 Mart 1921). He refused the money award as the poet of the national anthem, although he was very poor. Akif returned to İstanbul after the Independence War was over from where he left for Egypt on an invitation form Prince Abbas Halim Paşa and settled in Hilvan. He worked as a professor of Turkish language and literature at the University of Egypt (1925-1935). He lived ten years in Egypt and returned to İstanbul to die on his homeland of his cirrhosis. He was interred in the Edirnekapi Cemetery in Istanbul. His poems have been collected under the title Safahat (Phases), which consists of seven volumes.THOUGHT-RESEARCH: Kastamonu Nasrullah Kürsüsü'nde (At the Kastamonu Nasrullah Chair, preaching to people at the Nasrullah Mosque during the National Struggle, published by Nihat Paşa, the commander of Al-Jazira, at diayrbakır Printing House, 1921), Kur'an'dan Ayet ve Hadisler (Sentences and Hadis* in the Koran, selections from his articles in Sebilürreşad, edited by Ö. Rıza Doğrul, 1944). Despite the fact religious subjects are abundant in his poems, he cannot be considered as merely an Islamic poet. His lines, taking their theme from numerous problems faced by the society, has proven that his vision reached far beyond religion.The poem he wrote for those who died at Gallipoli, is the greatest of the legends of heroism. Akif who gave us the most effective examples of the art of poetry, believed that the Muslims should apply the Holy Koran to purify the religion from superstitions and to survive from the depressing conditions they were in. The idea was expressed in the words that read "Directly inspired by the Koran / The mind of the century shall interpret Islam". Thus, he asserted a condition for being a poet of his time on his own understanding. His approach to art was to be with God, as Yunus Emre claimed. Regarded as the leading representative of the idea of "Arts for society"; Akif assumed poetry as an instrument to spread his beliefs and ideas and to continue his struggle. While the hedonism concept from Ancient Greek philosophy in Europe teaches that devotion to these worldly pleasures is the purpose of life ,the Western idea of success has led people to become enslaved to wealth and made people's souls become servant to the dollar bill in an almost absolute sense.The very essence of the Western idea of life and "individualism" is based putting the human intellect before believing in God.In Western society the opinions of t.v. and radio show hosts, musicians, congressmen, and even actors and celebrities are referred to for judgment while the Decision of Allah-God- is disregarded and this is made in the name of "Freedom". The reality is that human beings are worshippers by nature. If the worship of Allah or God is not established in one's life, then one's worship will be directed towards something else. In a system in which the final decisions are referred to human beings, and in which the sources of all authority are human we see constant divorces,common adultery,no births,alcohol and drug addictions and high rates of crime like raping ,child molestation etc. .If we examine the background of this scene we see that after Western people ignored religion in The Middle Ages they began to to take big steps in science and technology but they forgot the needs of their souls. They were not successful in making the balance between science and religion .One thing they did not know also was that after Jesus Christ's messages and Bible was distorted God sent his last prophet Mohammed(PBUH) with the last book again for the happiness of humanity saying"Work for this world as if you are never going to die and work for the Hereafter as if you are going to die tomorrow".
