The Iris Project [Devil's Fantasy] [PLEASE READ] The Iris Project Back Story— Dante and Vergil are the last of their kind. Both are Half Breeds—part human, part devil—who suffer from a psychological problem after loosing both their parents. They both believe that becoming full Devil will make them happy (mainly because the darkness within them -- Sephiroth -- who takes after the form of their Father, tells them thus). So the work towards becoming Full Devil and when that happens Sephiroth plans to take their bodies and through them, destroy the world just like the Mother of all Devils always wanted. STORY -- Vergil wakes up in a strange Church one day, and finds himself face to face with a being he has always despised—Humans. However, he finds himself quickly warming up to the young woman named Aerith. They were never supposed to meet. He was a Son of Sparda, and she was a Daughter of Ifalna. Their life, their love, their story...was never supposed to exist. But they fell in love anyways. Days went by, and as they did, Vergil found himself visiting Aerith more and more. But he never told her what he was—a Half Breed. So when the day of the Ceremony to become a full Devil finally came, he didn't tell her. The Ceremony consists of dropping their blood, and their Mother's Amulets, into the core of Temenigru. However, the Ceremony doesn't work—probably because there was no [ceremony]. Sephiroth, the cause of their inner darkness, hoped to have taken control of the two by then so he could use them to destroy this mortal world. However, he began to loose control of Vergil, and when he found out that the young Devil was falling in love with a mortal, he knew he had to kill her or risk losing Vergil completely. So he explains to Vergil that Aerith's blood is needed to complete the Ceremony. She is the last of the Ancients, and therefore the only one who can give him the power of his Father, Sparda. Vergil doesn't accept this, and when Dante leaves, he tries to do the Ceremony again. Dante, however, has been taken over by Sephiroth. Later, you'll see a Flash back, but basically what happened was after the Ceremony failed, Dante couldn't stand to see Vergil in so much pain. So, he confronts Sephiroth about the thing with Aerith and when Sephiroth finally tells Dante the truth—that they are all just tools in his plan—Dante tries to kill him. Dante failed, and through his failure Sephiroth took over his body and went to go see Aerith. He asks her how much she knows about Half Breeds becoming Devils. She says that she thought it was some kind of surgery. Sephiroth laughs, asks her is Vergil told her that, and Aerith realizes that everything Vergil told her was a lie. "That last bit of light is always the hardest...to snuff out." Aerith sees then that Vergil lied to protect her. She doesn't know how to protect him... Sephiroth thinks about how true those words are—thus the flashback to Dante's possession—and decides to trap Vergil. He slices into himself to mimick what happened to Dante the night of their battle, and lays himself atop Temenigru. For a brief time, he detaches himself from Dante to watch what will happen. Vergil comes and at doesn't know what to think when he finds his Brother. However, he knows about Sephiroth now, and when Dante begins to move, he quickly stabs him in the hopes of freeing him from their curse, and from his pain. Sephiroth appears then, telling Vergil that he is proud of their progress, and looks forward to taking over Vergil's body as well. He goes to attack Vergil, and then takes over Dante's body again. Vergil fights with his possessed brother and thinks about the time he shunned Aerith in the Library. All he can think about is how he lost his brother, and how he'll never see Aerith again, and with those thoughts he works up the strength to kill Dante, and save him from their mental curse. Dante's eyes, as he is impaled, are full of understanding and forgiveness. Vergil gives him a quick death, but Sephiroth does not leave so easily. "I will never be a memory." Vergil knows his battle with his darkness is not over, and decides to go on a journey to find a cure. He tells Aerith everything that happened, and that he's leaving. She says she understands. "I'll stay here, and I'll cheer for you." AUTHOR'S NOTE -- Alright guys, I'm sorry this took so long both for this project, and for me to post any full length stuff. Between work, setting up for going back to College, becoming an Aunt, and other things, I haven't had much time. But, after 3 months of work, I finally finished.
