Josef Hassid plays "Zapateado" (P. De Sarasate) Josef Hassid (28 dicembre 1923 -- 1950) è stato un violinista polacco. Fu subito notato in positivo il suo vibrato e la sua grande capacità interpretativa, che portò Fritz Kreisler a dire: "Un violinista come Heifetz viene circa una volta ogni 100 anni, uno come Hassid ogni 200." Nel 1935 ricevette un diploma onorario al Wieniawski Competition a Varsavia e viaggiò con suo padre a Londra nel 1938. Tuttavia, l'inizio della Seconda Guerra Mondiale anticipò il suo ritorno in Polonia. A Londra egli registrò per His Master's Voice (HMV); oggi sono disponibili 9 brani fra cui la Hebrew Melody di Achron eseguita, a parere unanime, in modo magistrale. Nel 1941 fu ricoverato per la prima volta in un ospedale psichiatrico. Fu internato una seconda volta nel 1943 e gli fu diagnosticata una schizofrenia. In seguito fu lobotomizzato e morì a soli 26 anni. Josef Hassid (December 28, 1923 - 1950) was a Polish violinist. He received an honorary diploma in the 1935 Wieniawski Competition in Warsaw and traveled to London in 1938 with his father. However, the start of World War II prevented their return to Poland. He performed in London and recorded for HMV; his great legacy to music is in the form of 9 recordings among which Achron's Hebrew Melody is notable. He was first placed in a psychiatric hospital in 1941 after suffering from a nervous breakdown at the age of 18. He was admitted again in 1943 and was diagnosed with acute schizophrenia.
