Hacked Trane XB13 Heat Pump - Baboon install! Photo slide show and video clips: OMG this is one fine install here......NOT! Check it out. You are looking at a new Trane XB13 Heat Pump. I had to go and do a WARRANTY leak check. First thing is (yet again) these guys install the access panel and refridgeration service ports into the corner where you have to practically lay on your side to access the refer and HIGH VOLTAGE! Not too mention if you EVER need to replace a TXV or Reversing Valve, you will need to uninstall the unit and remove it away form the wall! (Yup these guys care more about speedy install than future service. Kind of the WOODEN nickel holding up the SILVER dollar if you ask me!) Then I could not believe when I saw how cobbled up that suction line was to the new unit! Clearly the installers were short on copper that day. Company pushes the installers so hard to "Git-er-Dun" that they don't ever DARE leave the job to get the correct part! (Again, WOODEN nickel holding up the SILVER dollar!) Worse yet is no one in the office believed me about the suction line reducing form 7/8" to 5/8" back up to 7/8". But as you will see here, photos and VIDEO speak a thousand words!!! So who was lying suckers??? Yeah, thought so! :) I hope to GOD that someone in this city of Phoenix will stand up and please enforce HVAC companies to pull a damn PERMIT and get their sh*t inspected! The quality of work by residential HVAC contractors is so bad that it's an insult to anyone who knows better, just to witness this kind of hackery! Carrier Heat Pump AC Compressor Problem Sometimes compressor would not restart until some time later. Refrigerant pressure level checked OK. Air handler recently replaced. Solution: O.K. The problem was fixed. Let me back track a bit. The outside condensing unit was replaced by an authorized Carrier dealer 2 years ago. The inside evaporator or air handler was replaced a year later by the same dealer. The problem developed only AFTER the air handler was replaced. The problem turned out to be that sometimes the system pressure was not equalized during the off cycle because the new air handler used a thermostatic expansion valve. They did put in a cheap thermistor to help the run capacitor the first time they came out, but it did not help. Then they installed a switch which activated the reversing valve every time the thermostat was satisfied or when compressor shut down. After the switch was installed, the compressor started everytime. After isolating the problem, a good hard start kit with a separate potential relay and start capacitor was ordered from Carrier and installed. I also asked them to remove the switch after the start kit was installed. So far the compressor started every time without problem. I found some good information on this issue on this website http://toad.net/~jsmeenen/boom.html . Following is a quote from the website: "Any refrigeration system that uses a TEV (thermostatic expansion valve) instead of a capillary tube or orifice must have a start capacitor because the system pressure may not equalize for a period of time during the off cycle. If you replace the indoor cooling coil with one that has a thermostatic expansion valve you may think that there is a problem with the compressor if it doesn't have one." Interestingly, he also mentioned that Ge/Trane/Manurope compressors generally don't need a hard start kit. i.e. Carrier does need one. Tags: Carrier |

DNC interviewed by Steve on the Breakfast show about the geothermal Heat pump "Heating the house from the Rock" story. The IVT heatpump is installed in the Peveril house by Ice Energy. Two boreholes going down almost 50m each provide enough heat to heat the house and the hot water. The house is in West Bridgford, Nottingham. Trane Heat Pump - Hacked install, up against a tree! Picture slide show: This is a R410 Trane Heat Pump installed with the service access panel right up against a tree! That makes it very difficult to service! If this company just allowed the installers the 30 extra minutes to rotate the unit 90 degrees and extend the line set and electrical whip, there would be no problem servicing this unit! But this little company doing business in the peoria/sun city/sun city west area in Arizona doesn't want to spend any extra time to make their installs proper. But they sure charge top dollar for these systems! Tags: a/c air conditioner conditioning Trane XL19i hack hacked jack leg peoria phoenix sun city west Grand Canyon State Arizona |

Bosch EcoLogixx 7 - Wärmepumpentrockner / Heat pump dryer TRANSLATION: "Household is like soccer: theres always something to improve. And the best one claims the title. That is what our engineers now accomplished with the EcoLogixx 7 the worlds champion in energy-saving among condensation dryers. With ActiveAir technology: the heat pump technology from Bosch. The circulating air does not permanently and costly have to be heated contrary to conventional condensation dryers because already existing heat is being efficiently recycled over and over again. Indeed, this principle is not new but up until now, there hasnt been any optimal solution to keep the condenser from collecting lint and thereby wasting energy. This is what we now accomplished with the revolutionary self-cleaning condenser. It doesnt have to be cleaned by hand but is instead automatically flushed and remains clean. Thanks to ActiveAir technology and the self-cleaning condenser, the energy-efficiency class A is maintained for many years. Still, this wasnt enough for us because the best lint is the one that isnt created in the first place. So we have developed a large-capacity drum in which the laundry is tumbled in warm air from underneath and thereby dries gently and evenly. All in all a good deal of work but the effort paid off dont you think? Bosch Technology for Life." NOTE: self-cleaning is accomplished by flushing water from the reservoir that collects the condensed water down a tube and onto the condenser.
