The Lord Weird Slough Feg "Heavy Metal Monk" Album "Down Among The Deadmen", 2000 Lyrics: What kind of a fool do you take me for? The lust of a monk or a troubadour I must be the last of a dying race What virtue is wrought from a man who is chaste? And spiteful enough for a holy war What kind of a man do you think I am? A master who's failed at his own exam This knowledge of life has become a cage A prison where reason has turned to rage A hawk that circles a pentagram What kind of a face do these people see? A creature enslaved by his inquiry A chain of thought that will never stop Perhaps a bull in a china shop A monster trapped in a library I'm caught in this race's own graveyard I'm piecing together unholy shards A man that died of his mental health An age that turned it against himself And left to gather his own reward What ever does this world want from me? A martyr for a moral tragedy Tags: the lord weird slough feg down among deadmen heavy metal monk |

Rage Against The Machine - Know Your Enemy Rage Against the Machine Studio album by Rage Against the Machine Released November 3, 1992 Recorded May -- September 1992 Genre Alternative metal Funk metal Rapcore Length 52:56 Label Epic Records Tom Morello's guitar soloing is somewhat traditional on this album, taking influence more from heavy metal music, in comparison to later releases where it is more experimental and geared toward emulation of DJs and hip hop. The album is known for its high production values, which are almost to the strictest audiophile standards. Some audiophile sites and magazines even go as far as using the album — in particular the song "Take the Power Back" — to test amplifiers and speakers. In 2001 Q magazine named Rage Against the Machine as one of the 50 Heaviest Albums Of All Time. Artwork and sleeve notes The cover artwork features a famous photo of Thích Quảng Đức, a Vietnamese Buddhist monk, burning himself to death in Saigon in 1963. The monk was protesting President Ngô Đình Diệm's administration for oppressing the Buddhist religion. The statement "no samples, keyboards or synthesizers used in the making of this record" can be found at the end of the sleeve notes, and similar statements were made in the band's subsequent albums. The band also refer to themselves as "Guilty Parties" for each album. Track History: It features Maynard James Keenan on vocals during the bridge section. Lyrics: Born with insight and a raised fist A witness to the slit wrist As we move into '92 Still in a room without a view Ya gotta know Ya gotta know That when I say go, go, go Amp up and amplify Defy I'm a brother with a furious mind Action must be taken We don't need the key We'll break in Something must be done About vengeance, a badge and a gun 'Cause I'll rip the mike, rip the stage, rip the system I was born to rage against 'em Fist in ya face, in the place And I'll drop the style clearly Know your enenmy Word is born Fight the war, f**k the norm Now I got no patience So sick of complacence With the D E F I A N C E The mind of a revolutionary So clear the lane The finger to the land of chains What? The land of the free? Whoever told you that is your enemy Something must be done About vengeance, a badge and a gun 'Cause I'll rip the mike, rip the stage, rip the system I was born to rage against 'em Now action must be taken We don't need the key We'll break in I've got no patience now So sick of complacence now I've got no patience now So sick of complacence now Sick of sick of sick of sick of sick of you Time has come to pay (The song's main message is that the government touts America as the land of the free, but lies and takes freedom away. That message is evident in lines such as, "What? The land of the free? Whoever told you that is your enemy!", "As we move into '92, still in a room without a view!" and "Yes I know my enemies! They're the teachers that taught me to fight me." The song ends with the following lines): Yes I know my enemies They are the teachers who taught me to fight me Compromise, conformity, assimulation, submission Ignorance, hypocrisy, brutality, the elite All of which are American dreams Tags: Rage Against The Machine Zack De La Rocha Tom Morello Rapcore 1992 Rap Heavy Metal Guitar Riffs Audioslave Killswitch |

Rage Against The Machine - Bullet In The Head Rage Against the Machine Studio album by Rage Against the Machine Released November 3, 1992 Recorded May -- September 1992 Genre Alternative metal Funk metal Rapcore Length 52:56 Label Epic Records Tom Morello's guitar soloing is somewhat traditional on this album, taking influence more from heavy metal music, in comparison to later releases where it is more experimental and geared toward emulation of DJs and hip hop. The band also refer to themselves as "Guilty Parties" for each album. Track History: "Bullet in the Head" was a single released by political rapcore band Rage Against the Machine from their self-titled album in 1992. A fan favourite and one of the debut album's heaviest tracks, "Bullet in the Head" refers to the band's belief that the government uses media to control the population, drawing comparisons between typical residences and Alcatraz. Lyrics: This time the bullet cold rocked ya A yellow ribbon instead of a swastika Nothin' proper about ya propaganda Fools follow rules when the set commands ya they said it was blue When the blood was red That's how you got a bullet blasted through ya head Blasted through ya head Blasted through ya head I give a shout out to the living dead Who stood and watched as the feds cold centralized So serene on the screen You was mesmerized Cellular phones soundin' a death tone Corporations cold Turn ya to stone before ya realize they load the clip in omnicolor They pack the 9, they fire it at prime time Sleeping gas, every home was like Alcatraz And mutha f**kas lost their minds Just victims of the in-house drive-by They say jump, you say how high They load the clop in omnicolor They pck the 9, they fire it at prime time Sleeping gas, every home was like Alcatraz And mutha f**kas lost their minds No escape from the mass mind rape Play it again jack and then rewind the tape Play it again and again and again Until ya mind is locked in Believin' all the lies that they're tellin' ya Buying all the products that they're sellin' ya They say jump you say how high Ay brain dead Ya gotta f**kin' bullet in ya head Just victims of the in-house drive-by They say jump, you say how high Ya standin' in line Believin' the lies Ya bowin' down to the flag Ya gotta bullet in ya head Tags: Rage Against The Machine Zack De La Rocha Tom Morello Rapcore 1992 Rap Heavy Metal Guitar Riffs Audioslave Killswitch |

Rage Against The Machine - Freedom Studio album by Rage Against the Machine Released November 3, 1992 Recorded May -- September 1992 Genre Alternative metal Funk metal Rapcore Length 52:56 Label Epic Records Tom Morello's guitar soloing is somewhat traditional on this album, taking influence more from heavy metal music, in comparison to later releases where it is more experimental and geared toward emulation of DJs and hip hop. The statement "no samples, keyboards or synthesizers used in the making of this record" can be found at the end of the sleeve notes, and similar statements were made in the band's subsequent albums. The band also refer to themselves as "Guilty Parties" for each album. Track History: "Freedom" was a single released by Rage Against the Machine from their self-titled album in 1994. The song is played in Drop D tuning on the guitars and has a distinctive riff in the intro and chorus. The band would normally close their shows playing "Freedom" due to the infamous breakdown followed by an intense ending, for which they sometimes adapted parts of "Township Rebellion" (another Rage song). An example of this is featured on The Battle of Mexico City DVD. Since their reunion, the song has been played as part of the encore along with "Killing in the Name". Lyrics: Uggh! Pull, pull Wuh! (Sung sorta like Michael Jackson) Come on! Uggh! Solo, I'm a soloist on a solo list All live, never on a floppy disk Inka, inka, bottle of ink Paintings of rebellion Drawn up by the thoughts I think Yeah! Come on! The militant poet in once again, check it It's set up like a deck of cards They're sending us to early graves For all the diamonds They'll use a pair of clubs to beat the spades With poetry I paint the pictures that hit More like the murals that fit Don't turn away Get in front of it Brotha, did ya forget ya name? Did ya lose it on the wall Playin' tic-tac-toe? Yo, check the diagonal Three brothers gone Come on Doesn't that make it three in a row? Spoken quietly: "Anger is a gift" Come on! Uggh! (Guitar solo) Drop that! Uggh! Come on Yeah Uggh Brotha, did ya forget ya name? Did ya lose it on the wall Playin' tic-tac-toe? Yo, check the diagonal Three million gone Come on 'Cause you know they're counting backwards to zero Environment The environment exceeding on the level Of our unconciousness For example What does the billboard say? Come and play!, come and play! Forget about the movement Spoken quietly: "Anger is a gift" Yeeeaaahhhh! Uggh! Awww, bring that shit in! Uggh! Hey! Freedom...yea... Freedom...yea right... Track History: Whilst no official interpretation of the song has been released, many fans believe the song deals with issues pertaining to street gangs specifically in the Los Angeles area - home of Zack De La Rocha and Rage Against the Machine. Lyrics: A jail cell is freedom from the pain in my home Hatred passed on, passed on and passed on A world of violent rage But its one that I can recognise Having never seen the colour of my fathers eyes Yes, I dwell in hell, but its a hell that I can grip I tried to grip my family But I slipped To escape from the pain in an existence mundane I gotta 9, a sign, a set and now I gotta name Read my writing on the wall No-ones here to catch me when I fall Death is on my side....suicide!
