Het Heilsleger is de grootste inzamelaar van kleding in Nederland 29 miljoen kilo per jaar. Dat is de Arena in Amsterdam tot het dak vol. Veel van die kleding is al zo versleten dat niemand het meer wil en kan dragen. Die lompen worden verkocht en gerecycled. Dat levert het Leger jaarlijks een mooi bedrag op om de inzameling en de salarissen van die medewerkers te kunnen betalen. Voor internationale rampen maar ook voor kleine menselijke tragedies houdt het Leger der Heils een voorraad prima gebruikte kleding, die in noodgevallen wordt uitgedeeld. Daarnaast zijn er ook in Friesland kledingwinkels waar je voor een paar euro´s een complete garderobe kunt kopen. Niet gratis, want ook iemand met weinig geld heeft zijn eigen waardigheid. Er wordt wel betaald, maar met mate! Tientallen vrijwilligers werken wekelijks aan het sorteren en verzorgen van de kleding, die in de winkels van het Leger worden verkocht. The New Truck The New Truck: - Manly Waste's usual HEIL Formula 4000 - Body capacity of 23m - Mounted on the New Iveco Acco - Equipped with the usual lifter as the other trucks and has the drum winch - Revs at about 900RPM (don't think I've ever heard a rear loader on an Iveco so quiet before) I really like this truck, it's got a nice sound to it and it's pretty fast too. Only thing is the drum winch which slows things down, but no different to other trucks with drum winches (would've been great with a reeving cylinder). Good thing about the new HEILs is how the spill shield becomes totally vertical when it's raised, instead of being at a curve where it traps material. In case any of you are wondering, the old truck is still around, currently being used for commercial recycling and acts as a spare. Anyway, sit back and enjoy the video.
