RC Helicopter FISHING! Dave tries hand at "Heli Fishing" For you skeptics who say the fish was dead, I assure you it wasn't dead. I didn't see one of you there either! That said, I still risked my E-Flite Blade 400 for some entertainment for you (I used 3 batteries, hence the cut) as fun and challenging for me. I doubt most others would risk their $450 heli just to hover over the water, let alone dangle a line! This scenario shows it may be possible to use the Helicopter for fishing, however it would be expensive fishing. It is always terribly windy here, so on this calm day, those simple waves in the water was of no concern to a sunfish! It also helps to have lots of fish, like in our Sand Pit Pond where they bite on hooks with no bait! (actually I used fish eggs and the hook 24" from the bobber. Hey, you never know, if you don't try! ***Caution from past experience*** If the Tail rotor hits the water even slightly, it will immediately cause a crash. Big fish can drain batteries fast. It takes and hour to charge between flights of only 6 minutes, so this could be a long process to catch a fish. Sunfish are not big fighters. Fly easy and thanks for watching. Surprise Crash at end..Blade 400 Heli Product review and flights. At $469.99 (discounted from $599), Donovan's has a good price on the Blade 400. I believe (but could be wrong) that if you mention this video, you will get free shipping too. Donovan's service alone is worth it. This is PART I of my Blade 400 experience. This is definitely not a beginner's helicopter. Let's take a look at it. Remember this.... Any Collective Pitch (CP) helicopter is quite a handful. If you want to learn on one, make sure to fly a realistic simulator first. The one voted best is the Aerofly Professional Deluxe. None of my airplane friends can fly the cp helicopters on my Aerofly sim very long. They always fly away and since they do not know how to hover, crash! It is as real as it gets and just like the real thing. If you can't fly the Simulator, then forget the real thing unless you have lots of money for parts and lots of time and patience. Then memorize my 9 helicopter tips, and don't deviate from them. It also helps to have some coordination too, because you have to move both sticks in all directions all the time. There is never a dead moment. But on the other hand, once you got it, you will love it. Remember 96% of the people who try to fly helicopters, give up after a few crashes, and WE ALL CRASH! Part 1, Build an Electric Heli Training/Test Stand. PART 2 is this link.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6Zroukw5lo Frustrated and tired of crashing? Here is a simple training/test stand you can build. I designed this to help folks learn the sensitivity of the controls of an RC helicopter. This stand may give you a little better chance at seeing and feeling what your helicopter will do, before you go fly it. Using this stand, you can adjust your gyro, your cyclic controls and trims. If you can keep it level on the stand, you will have a much better chance at succeeding when you go out to fly it on your own. Try to mount your heli as close to the center of gravity on the stand and the trims will remain close. The tail rotor will remain trimmed on or off the stand. Nothing is perfect and this isn't either. I am sure others will copy it, as Free Enterprise goes, but at least this may give you a fighting chance to feel what your heli will do when you decide to fly it outside. You can make it yourself or if there is enough interest, I may make some available. Note: ETRM helis do not have enough power to lift it much, however it still is a good way to practice direction, tail rotor control and keeping it level. Again, all helis are "upside down rotary lawnmowers", so respect this test stand for what it is. Be careful on the controls and do not abruptly make changes, or you may have a blade strike or something worse. If you break it on the stand, you would most likely have also broken it off the stand too. Use common sense and you may want to tie a safety cord like "Chalk line" cord to the mounting plate and base, in case your rubber bands come off. Always inspect your equipment and be safe. Micro gear/picoo z/ havoc heli/ tips and tricks. volume 1 To enjoy the most flight times from your 2 channel infrared helicopter take good care of your battery, always let it cool for about five minutes and always recharge you battery when it's dune cooling off. Remember if that batteries voltage drops, so does your helicopter. Also check your transmitter batteries every week. Every 2 channel helicopter needs to be trimmed at the beginning of each flight and each one requires different trim. My a chopper (the first one in the video only requires about 4 or5 clicks on the trim my b chopper ( the second one I fly requires about 15 or 20) Use your torque to your advantage, if you drop your thrust quickly during a right turn the torque helps the heli turn quicker, just be prepared to raise your thrust back up and correct for any over spin. R/C HELI SHOT DOWN BY .50 CALIBER RIFLE I had always wanted to Shoot down an R/C Heli. I supplied My EVO 50 Heli. My Friend Ray did the flying. We had heli aprox 100 yards out and it was moving around prett good from the wind. I used an Armor Piercing Round in hopes of shooting strait through the motor. Well it was a perfect hit. The round went strait through the pipe, and through the mtor. You can acctually see where it entered one side of the piston and right out the other side. My Aerofly Heli Leans! + MD900, A320, CH46, B-17, Guiles 3D If you can fly the helicopters in Aerofly, you will be better able to fly the real models. It is truly as realistic of flying (and is just as difficult) as the real ones. Also, the Scientific Phenomenon of helicopters "leaning" is demonstrated with the Hughes 300. Flight physics are fantastic as Dave at Mr. Herbert's Science Class demonstrates by also stressing the wings on a A320 Airbus. Micro gear apache heli review and obstacle course flight Micro gear needs to take this helicopter off the market Don't buy one of these. I found this coaxial apache 4 channel helicopter made by micro gear for sale at the local frys electronics for 89.99. I am very disappointed with its flight performance and its transmitter. It came with a mode one transmitter that looked like it was left over from the cold war. In the USA we use mode 2. Also the crystal wasn't interchangeable with my other transmitters, it was to short. If you buy one be prepared to get your own transmitter, preferably one with servo reverse switches on it, because you will need to reverse one of the servos if you switch to mode 2. Also the sliding swash plate is not precise nor is it well tuned out of the box. You may need to move the swash plate to different screws; you may also need to move the servo horn over one notch on the front servo. This helicopter is a wreck waiting to happen, so if you buy one get extra blades and don't expect much out of it. It may look cool but it certainly doesn't fly very well. Also the tech support from micro gear has not responded to any of my E-mails, And most retail stores don't offer exchanges or refunds on R.C vehicles so do your research and buy something with a normal swash plate. If you have time send micro gear an E-mail at support@theparknshop.com telling them to take this helicopter off the market. That's the only contact info I have for them.
