Der engagierte, sympathische 48-Jährige half am Samstagmittag bei einem Freiwilligenprojekt in einer Trothaer Kleingartenanlage mit. Hier soll später Obst und Gemüse für Hilfsbedürftige angebaut werden. Auch dort trug der bekennende HFC-Fan das Shirt vom Fanprojekt Halle, in dem er aktiv mitarbeitete. Acht Stunden nach den Filmaufnahmen prügelt ihn ein 16 Jahre alter Schüler ins Koma, drei Tage später stirbt Uwe Menzel.
