Compilation of Hibari Misora's songs-1940s

Hibari Misora recorded a total of 2 songs in the 1940s, both of them in 1949. They were; 1. 河童ブギウギ(Kappa Boogie Woogie) 2. 悲しき口笛(Kanashiki Kuchibue) (Which translates to "Sad Whistle") I've uploaded both of them here. Kappa Boogie Woogie is her debut song of what is going to be a total of over 1500 songs she will record in the next four decades until her death in 1989. For those wondering what a Kappa is, it's a Japanese imaginary creature, green or yellow in colour, and translates to 'river child'. They resemble the looks of monkeys with tortoise shells on their backs. Young Hibari, 12 years old at the time, dressed up as one in the movie 'Odoru Ryugujyou' and sang this song.It is apparent that this song was not her favourite, as she later recalled in her interviews that dressing up like a Kappa was simply embarassing, and considers her next song, 'Kanashiki Kuchibue' to be her true debut song. She recorded 'Kanashiki Kuchibue' a total of four times during her entire career. This version is the original. Please rate, comment and enjoy!!

Omatsuri Mambo Ｍｉｓｏｒａ　Ｈｉｂａｒｉ

昭和27年4月29日、歌舞伎座でのリサイタルで発表された、ひばりの代表曲のひとつ。 EL MAMBO DEL FESTIVAL El tío (tipo) de mi vecino nació en Kanda y es un edokko escandaloso (edokko=se llama así a quienes nacen en Tokio que antiguamente se llamaba Edo, traduzco chakichaki por escandaloso o fiestero), y le encantan los festivales. Se pone su nellirimaki (la banda en la cabeza torcida) y su yukata, y no importa si cae la lluvia o si caen lanzas el está cargando el omikoshi desde la mañana hasta la noche. Wasshoi! Wasshoi! Anímense! Arrojen la sal! (esto es de buena suerte para los japoneses). Wasshoi Wasshoi! Ea! Ea! Es el festival! Oiga tío, qué grave! Por ahí se oye la alarma de incendio, el incendio está cerca, es el sonido de la alarma. No importa lo que le diga el sigue: washhoishoi! No importa lo que escuche el sigue: Wasshoishoi. Ea! Ea! Es el festival! Luego además la tía vecina, se crió en Asakusa y es un poquitín hermosa y le encantan los festivales. Tiene sus pies descalzos elegantes y su yukata, no importa si caen la lluvia o caen lanzas ella está viendo el carro del festival desde la mañana hasta la noche. Pihyara (onomatopeya de la flauta) tentsuku tentsuku (onomatopeya de tamborcillos japoneses) , la tortuga y el ogro, el Hanya (uno como ogro) y el Hyottoko (un tipo de cara redonda, ojón y feo. en los cuatro casos se refiere a las máscaras de éstos que se usan en los festivales) Pihyara! Tentsuku! Ea Ea! Es el festival! Oiga tía, qué grave! Su casa se ha quedado sola y vacía, un ladrón la anda rondando. No importa lo que le diga ella sigue: Pihyara! No importa lo que escuche eslla sigue: tentsuku! Ea ea! Es el festival! Se ha terminado el festival y anochece. Es una noche en la cual sopla el viento helado. Sólo se escuchan los dolorosos suspiros del tío a quien se le quemó la casa y de la tía a quien le robaron todos sus ahorros. No importa cuanto lloren, no regresarán. No importa cuánto lloren, ha pasado el festival. NOTA: La expresión "pasado el festival" es un refrán japonés equivalente a "Después del niño ahogado que tapen el pozo", y se aplica a las personas que no toman las debidas precauciones y después se están lamentando. Esta canción tiene un aire cómico que Hibari enfatiza con los contrastes de alegría y tristeza. La grabó por primera vez a los quince años. La estrenó el 29 de abril de 1952 en el teatro del Kabuki siendo la primera mujer en pisar el sagrado entarimado de ciprés. Después de su presentación los rancios actores del Kabuki hicieron un lavado especial y un exorcismo pues había sido pisado por una mujer.

YAWARA (Romaji) Katsu to omou na omoeba makeyo Makete motomoto kono mune-no Oku-ni ikiteru yawara-no yume-ga isshou ichido-wo isshou ichido-wo matteiru. Kuchi-de iu yori te-no hou-ga hayai baka-wo aite-no toki janai yuku-mo tomaru-mo suwaru-mo fusu-mo yawara hitosuji yawara hito suji yo-ga akeru. YAWARA No pienses que vas a ganar, si lo hacer vas a perder. Aunque pierdas, el sueño de Yawara vive en el fondo de mi pecho desde un principio, está en espera de la vida que se vive sólo una vez. Es natural a cada ser humano tener anhelos, pero me desharé de ellos venciendo la rápida corriente del agua. Por lo menos esta noche viviré come es digno al ser humano saboreando las lágrimas del amor. Es más fácil decirlo con la boca que hacerlo con la mano. No tengo tiempo de enfrentarme a tontos. No importa si voy o me quedo, si me siento (a la vista de todos) o si me oculto, me consagro a Yawara y amanece. El problema con canciones como esta es querer traducirla por versos respetando los originales. El idioma japonés tiene un orden inverso al español lo que la hace incomprensible al traducirla de ese modo. YAWARA es un arte marcial mejor conocido como JUDOU. YAWARA también significa suave, es decir, en este arte no se usan no armas ni los puños cerrados. Cuando a Hibari le pidieron que grabara esta canción ella no quería porque dijo: "No entiendo por qué una mujer cono yo tiene que cantar una canción de hombre." Pero su manager la convenció y fue su mayor éxito en vida.
