De voorzitter van het Centraal Comit voor Ex-moslims, Ehsan Jami, is in zijn woonplaats Voorburg gemolesteerd door waarschijnlijk drie mannen. Jami heeft aangifte gedaan van het voorval, bevestigt de politie in Voorburg. De politie is nog op zoek naar de daders. Het incident had zaterdag rond 18.00 uur plaats op de Prinses Beatrixlaan in Voorburg. Volgens Jami begonnen twee mannen met een Marokkaansachtig uiterlijk en een mogelijk Somalische man hem uit te schelden voor onder meer 'kanker-landverrader'. Vervolgens is Jami een paar keer tegen de grond geslagen. Hij liep daarbij enkele bloedingen en verwondingen op. De vrouw die in het gezelschap van Jami was, kreeg ook een paar fikse klappen. Verwondingen De daders vluchtten daarna weg. Op het politiebureau is Jami aan zijn verwondingen geholpen. Hij heeft meteen proces-verbaal laten opmaken. De uit Iran afkomstige Jami (22) is PvdA-raadslid in Voorburg-Leidschendam. Hij werd in het voorjaar vooral bekend door de oprichting van het Centraal Comit voor Ex-moslims. Tot grote verontwaardiging van sommige moslims wil Jami het taboe rondom geloofsafval doorbreken. Jami uit felle kritiek op de islam. Hij wil ook hulp bieden aan bedreigde ex-moslims. Vertrouwelingen van Jami denken dat er een rechtstreeks verband is tussen de molestatie van Jami en zijn activiteiten voor het comit. Jami is, zegt hij zelf, al twee keer belaagd in de periode van de oprichting van zijn comit. Figuren Wetenschapper en adviseur Afshin Ellian, die ook van Iraanse afkomst is, zegt ook wel eens te zijn uitgescholden door figuren uit de fundamentalisch islamitische hoek. Elian vindt het schandalig dat Jami geen beveiliging heeft. Jami wil op het moment niets meer over de kwestie zeggen. De PVV vindt dat Jami met onmiddellijke ingang afdoende bewaking moet krijgen. Volgens fractievoorzitter Wilders had het incident voorkomen kunnen worden als de beveiliging goed was geweest. Onduidelijk Toen Jami het ex-moslim-comit oprichtte, bleef het lang onduidelijk wat de opstelling van de PvdA-top was. Enkele PvdA-leden keerden zich tegen hun opstandige partijgenoot. Maar het partijbestuur schaarde zich na enige tijd alsnog publiekelijk achter Jami, door te stellen dat het een "goede zaak" was dat Jami zich inzette voor het recht op geloofsafval.
