Elle était par rapport aux Phéniciens le grenier où ils cachaient leurs trésors pendant les guerres. Jezzine est le centre administratif et politique d'un caza qui s'étend sur un site boisé et souvent visité par les touristes. Jezzine est célèbre par sa cascade et sa coutellerie qui constitue un artisanat unique en son genre au monde. * Saida (Sidon) a été l'une des plus célèbres cité-État de Phénicie.
