Kahlil Gibran Collected Works http://www.perfectlysaid.com I'm sure that somewhere out there is someone who loves the writings of Kahlil Gibran as much as I do. Like many people, I first read The Prophet at a young age. From there, I began collecting many other works by Gibran. Kahlil Gibran is probably the reason that I read, write, and review. When someone delves into his writings and appreciates them, they come away with some innocent love affair with words. This book is quite unique in that it contains The Prophet and many other celebrated books in one collection. The book is over 800 pages and is a nice addition to your own library or as a gift. One thing about this video: I edited the color of the images a little so that it would appear more even in color and less strain on your eyes. Tags: Gibran short film kahlil Book trailer |

Kahlil Gibran - The Prophet - On Love Kahlil Gibran - The Prophet - On Love Music: Angeli, by Guy Farley Editing: Mariana Barrancos www.abusoemocional.com May 2008 Then said Almitra, "Speak to us of Love." And he raised his head and looked upon the people, and there fell a stillness upon them. And with a great voice he said: When love beckons to you follow him, Though his ways are hard and steep. And when his wings enfold you yield to him, Though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you. And when he speaks to you believe in him, Though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden. For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you. Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning. Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun, So shall he descend to your roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth. Like sheaves of corn he gathers you unto himself. He threshes you to make you naked. He sifts you to free you from your husks. He grinds you to whiteness. He kneads you until you are pliant; And then he assigns you to his sacred fire, that you may become sacred bread for God's sacred feast. All these things shall love do unto you that you may know the secrets of your heart, and in that knowledge become a fragment of Life's heart. But if in your fear you would seek only love's peace and love's pleasure, Then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and pass out of love's threshing-floor, Into the seasonless world where you shall laugh, but not all of your laughter, and weep, but not all of your tears. Love gives naught but itself and takes naught but from itself. Love possesses not nor would it be possessed; For love is sufficient unto love. When you love you should not say, "God is in my heart," but rather, I am in the heart of God." And think not you can direct the course of love, if it finds you worthy, directs your course. Love has no other desire but to fulfil itself. But if you love and must needs have desires, let these be your desires: To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night. To know the pain of too much tenderness. To be wounded by your own understanding of love; And to bleed willingly and joyfully. To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving; To rest at the noon hour and meditate love's ecstasy; To return home at eventide with gratitude; And then to sleep with a prayer for the beloved in your heart and a song of praise upon your lips. On Children, from The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran And a woman who held a babe against her bosom said, "Speak to us of Children." And he said: Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself. They come through you but not from you, and though they are with you, yet they belong not to you. You may give them your love but not your thoughts. For they have their own thoughts. You may house their bodies but not their souls, for their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams. You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you. For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday. You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth. The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far. Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness; For even as he loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable. Il Profeta di Kahlil Gibran Il piacere è un canto di libertà, Ma non è la libertà. È la fioritura dei vostri desideri, Ma non è il loro frutto. È un richiamo profondo verso una vetta, Ma non è il fondo né il culmine. È l'ingabbiato che prende il volo, Ma non è spazio racchiuso. Oh sì, il piacere è realmente un canto di libertà. E io vorrei che lo cantaste a cuore aperto; ma non vorrei vedervi perdere il cuore nel cantarlo. A glance at the Future--Kahlil Gibran; read by Rosko Poetry is most powerful to me when accompanied by music; even more so when images are added in synchronicity. The recording came from an album that I and one of my oldest friends bought back in 1967, entitled "Music and Gibran", a collection of poetry by Kahlil Gibran, read by a NY disk jockey named Rosko, to Lebanese music of "The John Berberian Ensemble". My own contribution was stringing together and synchronizing some images I deemed appropriate. I hope you enjoy it. ----Gerald Brewster Tags: dancers kahlil gibran lebanese music poetry prophecy vision bellydancing |

"The Prophet" On Beauty - by Kahlil Gibran and read by Paul Sparer Famed author Kahlil Gibran's masterpiece "The Prophet" is read perfectly by actor Paul Sparer. This is probably the best adaptation of this work I have heard/read. May the shadow of this video be a light upon your faces. Hyperpoetical Journey (Brian Eno-Kahlil Gibran-Maharaji) My hyperpoetical journey: http://www.wordsofpeace.eu/ http://www.tprf.org/ http://www.maharaji.net/ The Astronomer In the shadow of the temple my friend and I saw a blind man sitting alone. And my friend said, "Behold the wisest man of our land." Then I left my friend and approached the blind man and greeted him. And we conversed. After a while I said, "Forgive my question; but since when has thou been blind?" "From my birth," he answered. Said I, "And what path of wisdom followest thou?" Said he, "I am an astronomer." Then he placed his hand upon his breast saying, "I watch all these suns and moons and stars." - Kahlil Gibran "All journeys will someday end.
