Als Erfinder des Kaleidoskops gilt der berühmte schottische Physiker David Brewster, dessen Forschungsgebiete u.a. die doppelte Strahlenbrechung (Brechung von Licht an Prismen) und die Polarisation von Licht (Brewsterwinkel) waren. ...oder weil in dieser Zeit (1920) das Bewusstsein der visuellen Wahrnehmung mit Drogen, wie Mescalin erweitert wurde. Ein bekannter Künstler dieser Zeit ist Oscar Wilde, bekannt durch das Buch, das Bildnis des Dorian Gray und sein Freund und Illustrator Aubrey Beardsley.
