Boris Karloff sings Monster Mash on Shindig! Recreated!! Back in October of'65 ABC's Shindig! broadcast their Halloween episode and showed a clip of the Monster Mash performed by Boris Karloff. The clip was lost somehow, but with scenes from that show that still remain, I was able to assemble a music video of what it might have looked like. I've been searching for the Karloff clip for years, and until the original is found, this will have to do. Thanks to Jason at Scar Stuff for the great remix of the Monster Mash! FRANKENSTEIN - EDISON FILM - 1910 - pt1 Part 1 of 2 Frankenstein is a 1910 film made by Edison Studios that was written and directed by J. Searle Dawley. It was the first motion picture adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. The unbilled cast included Augustus Phillips as Dr. Frankenstein, Charles Ogle as the Monster, and Mary Fuller as the doctor's fiancée. Shot in three days, it was filmed at the Edison Studios in the Bronx, New York City. Although some sources credit Thomas Edison as the producer, he in fact played no direct part in the activities of the motion picture company that bore his name. For many years, this film was believed to be a lost film. In 1963, a plot description and stills were discovered published in the March 15, 1910 issue of an old Edison film catalog, The Edison Kinetogram. In the 1950s, a print of this film was purchased by a Wisconsin film collector, Alois F. Dettlaff, who did not realize its rarity until many years later. Its existence was first revealed in the mid-1970s. Although somewhat deteriorated, the film was in viewable condition, complete with titles and tints as seen in 1910. Detalff had a 35 mm preservation copy made by the George Eastman House in the late 1970s. The Bride of Frankenstein- Boris Karloff - It's not dead!! This scene begins with a nice reference to the parents of the child accidently killed by the monster in the prequel to this film. The father wants to see the monster dead for good but unfortunately for him it is very much alive. Once the monster gets out of the smouldering mill and kills the mother of the child (he's finished of a whole family over the course of two films) it is met by Una O'Conner who is on top hysterical form and runs back to the town to warn everyone. The Bride of Frankenstein - Boris Karloff - Crucifixion Boris Karloff as the monster is loose in the countryside. He sees himself for the first time and is distressed by his appearance. The "monster" always seems to be trying to find help or trying to help people when all they see is a murderer and when a peasant girl sees him it is no different. The monster has a striking parallel to Lennie in of Mice and Men. The villagers find and capture him and it is here that we see the direct representation of the monster as Christ, both try to do good but are captured and hated by the very people they had tried to help and be-friend.
