Fleetwood Mac- Gold Dust Woman- 25 August 1990- SLIDESHOW One of Stevie Nicks' best live performances from the Klonopin Era (1987-1993) when she was under the influence of this debilitating tranquiliser. You can hear how much Stevie's voice changed from the Tango and OSOTM albums, and even during the Behind The Mask Tour of 1990. This was recorded by the BBC for a radio broadcast in Manchester, England. Stevie begins with the notorious line "TAKE YOUR SILVER SPRINGS". This was a blatant reference to drummer Mick Fleetwood's refusal to allow Stevie to put "Silver Springs" onto Timespace, released in 1991. Mick and Stevie's bitter feud over the song would persist until 1996. Stevie sounds furious and possessed in this rendition. Great guitars from Rick Vito and Billy Burnette, great keyboards from Christine McVie, great drums and percussion from Mick, great backing vocals and even great bass from John McVie! I made this slideshow from pics taken from photoshoots. There is one in 1987 when Lindsey was still in the band and Stevie wore her "old" GDW shawl. Another is in early 1990 (a 1990 mag had these pics) with her "new" GDW cape (the pics would later be used on Timespace and Enchanted). Other pics are concert shots (where Stevie appears to be performing GDW) from the Tango/Shake The Cage 1987-88 (the black hat and cape), OSOTM 1989 (the debut of the new GDW cape) and BTM 1990 Tours. The last tour is quite a turning point. You will see Stevie early in the tour when she was slim (May-June 1990), then Stevie when she began to gain weight (late 1990). I also captured screenshots from GDW performances from: -the Tango 12-12-1987 DVD -San Jose 20-10-1989 DVD -Greek Theatre 23-10-1989 DVD -Las Vegas 10-6-1990 DVD -Ohio State Fair 20-8-1994 DVD (here, Stevie is off drugs and wearing the "old" GDW cape without the shoulderpads- the video comes in full circle).
