Antarctica Time lapse: A Year on Ice A better quality copy of this clip can be found at my photo site: www.antarcticimages.com Blog: www.frozensouth.com Time-lapse video filmed in Antarctica, in and around McMurdo Station and Scott Base. Each year the sun is below the horizon for 4 months in the middle of winter, and above the horizon for 4 months in summer. During the couple of months in between we have more-or-less normal days. Includes shots of auroras and the very rare polar stratospheric nacreous clouds, which form when ozone depleting gases crystallize in the upper atmosphere in the intense cold. Summer population is about 1200 people, winter about 200. This is just a small sample of an ongoing project to collect time-lapse imagery of Antarctica. I have taken over 1,000,000 individual photos and worn out a number of cameras that make up the collection of footage I have gathered so far over the last 6 years. Eventually a film will be released, keep an eye on my user page for more info in the future. Check out my other videos as well for more of life on the Ice. For those of you who have been asking about the music I used here, the first piece of music is "Whirl-Y-Reel" by Afro Celt Sound System, the second is "The Grand Finale" from the Edward Scissorhands soundtrack by Danny Elfman. Both are available at most music outlets. Tags: Antarctica Time lapse Ice Aurora McMurdo time-lapse Scott Base South Pole timelapse Antz Anthony Powell northern lights |

Burningman 2007 Time-Lapse Time Lapse Video of the 2007 Burning Man festival as viewed from the Block Rock Solar "Powertainer". Be sure and check out the Sequel video at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4FxBqHGGq4 Interesting note: You can actually see the Crude Awakening Oil Derrick go up even though it's about 3/4 mile away! There is a brilliant flash that illuminates the scene. Here is a high resolution still: http://mindfart.com/pic/?crudeawakeningshadow Background: I was originally asked by Tom Price to do this timelapse, and I thought it was an awesome idea. It's been done before by the Folding-Time guys, but they didn't set up this year. The images were captured by a Canon G3 mounted in a weatherproof housing of my own design up on a 20 foot pole next to the Powertainer. There were 18,486 images shot at 2272x1704 which is almost 4 megapixels each. Some of the full-size stills are stunning! The camera was controlled by a custom Daemon I wrote using the Gphoto library, which ran on the Powertainer's Slackware linux system and the images were stored full-size on a hard drive. After the event, I ran another piece of code that downsampled the images to 640x480 then composed them at 30fps into a MPEG-4 video. My friend Tom Sepe added the Music and Titles for me and Voila! I hope to make a more portable rig for future use incorporating an embedded linux system and flash memory. Contact me for more information, to hire me for interesting geekery, or just to geek out. =) Tags: Burningman Burning Man Timelapse Peef Powertainer Black Rock Solar BRC Linux Gphoto slackware |

Koya Moments / An Edinburgh time lapse movie Philip Glass Violin Concerto, 1st movement Adele Anthony, violin Ulster Orchestra Naxos CD 8.554568 In tribute to Ron Fricke who filmed Koyaanisqatsi ( one of my favourite films) This film charts the progress of the day and night, the changing light, weather and progress of the moon and stars . Enjoy ( do enjoy as it took two years to make!) Technical assistance was by Alistair Meldrum who provided the specs for the pans and other things well beyond me, drove me places and had to give up a lot of his own time-lapse due to me getting there first. Music ( shamefully I forgot to add this to the final version credits) Phillip Glass from his violin concerto. Video editing - greatly helped by Rene Orielly who pointed the way to good editing and who was not at all shy by giving rough comments ( and i like that) Video testers- David Watt, Dougie Nicol, Janet McSherry, Ian Wishart, Ian Hartley ( if its crap, they have no problem telling me so). Time-lapse video of deep-sea feeding frenzy This video clip from NHK's "Planet Earth" shows the scene at dinner time on the deep ocean floor. The footage, which appears to have been shot by the Japanese submarine Shinkai 6500 in Okinawan waters at a depth of over 1500 meters (5,000 feet), shows sea-floor scavengers fighting for their piece of a fish carcass that has drifted down to the bottom. Crabs, eels and giant isopods (Bathynomus giganteus), which look like 30 centimeter (1 foot) long wood lice, join in the feeding frenzy that lasts several hours. Here it is time-lapsed to about 20 seconds for maximum impact. Itadakimasu. Tags: Time-lapse deep sea feeding frenzy fish ocean floor scavengers |

84 Days In 48 Seconds: Weight Loss Time Lapse Where I am Today - http://www.RTP-Blog-2.com Song: Better Artist: Guns N Roses http://web.gunsnroses.com/index.jsp AS SEEN In Mens Fitness US Edition & On TV in Japan which has used the "time-lapse" portion of this video in a 5-minute profile on my fast weight loss journey that was broadcast on national TV to 5,000,000 people. They filmed me in my house taking a daily picture, in the gym and eating clean! If you want to watch this clip go to my blog listed above. The reason I am saying this here is because of the "it's fake" comments I get. If you watch the TV clip you will see that I am a "real person" and I really do train and eat clean to get the results I have. *Due to Copyright this TV clip cannot be uploaded to YouTube but you can watch it at http://www.RTP-Blog-2.com THE TRUTH ABOUT THIS VIDEO: First and foremost I want to thank the overwhelmingly positive feedback and comments to this video. Secondly, I am not "special" and neither is the transformation. Thousands of people all over the world do this kind of thing all the time (myself included, 7 years ago). This transformation has more to do with the mind than the body. The body is merely a physical representation of your daily thoughts and actions. Anyway, a lot of people have commented on the "unbelievable" fat loss from my first picture in black shorts and my official Day 1 picture. Just to clear it up, if you watch the video closely you can clearly see that I state that the first picture is from July 2003. My "Day 1" picture is 3 and a half years later on November 8, 2006 as evidenced by the date on the newspaper (which you can see in the video clearly if you pause it.) The primary goal of taking pictures and blogging every day was not to make a video. The reason why I started this project was a way of holding myself accountable. 7 years ago I was in shape, then I lost the plot big-time. I then spent 6 years overweight and at times bordering on obese like in the picture from July 2003. Trust me, I have enough "before pictures" to fill a family album. This time I decided to try something different. Take a picture every day (except for a few rest days). Taking a picture every day motivated me to push through the pain barrier every workout because I knew I had to take a picture that evening. Now of course, once I finished the 12 weeks I was proud of my achievement and I did have a new-found confidence after 6 years of being out of shape. The reason I put this "time lapse compliation" video on YouTube was in the hope it could inspire some people out there who are overweight and want to change their life. This video does not promote anything, except for taking massive action on your dreams! This transformation is consistent with eating clean and working out hard. It is not amazing, nor is it rocket science. But there are no "magic bullets", no supplements and no "secret workout routines" that will do the job for you. Cheers, Adam Waters http://www.RTP-Blog-2.com Tags: adam waters weight loss bodybuilding before after picture rtp blog guns roses better timelapse time lapse every day |
