The Speeding Ticket Busted by the nicests Nevada Highway Patrol on Interstate 80 in Reno. well, the nicest officer that has ever pulled me over. this is the third, but first speeding ticket. fyi the radar went off but it was too late. i turned on the camera after I knew I was busted. (19mb) cited speed and fine withheld. "being polite opens up more alternative outcomes than being an ass to the guy who can give you a ticket." -the guy who still got a ticket but not as bad as it could have been. ahaha. DIY over tank box filter DIY over the tank filter. for those fish freaks that run multiple tanks. for glass/eggcrate covered tanks. for people who like to DIY for the hell of it. what i used: Clear plastic box (crafts store) or any container you like. Clear acrylic tube (crafts store) or pvc pipe. Caulking gun. GE Silicone 1, clear, windows & doors. if you already have that very small & expensive aquarium sealant you can use that. this DIY does not require much of it. Soldering iron or drill. Plastic cap or use the undergravel adapter from your powerhead (which you'll need anyway). Your choice of tubing (i just bought a replacement Fluval ribbed hosing/tubing for the 105/205 model. it's alot flexible. Bio wheel mini part (not req'd). Bio balls (not req'd). Fabric/batting from crafts store or fabric dept at wally world. work in a well ventilated area if you're going to use the soldering iron. inhaling the smoke kills stupid people. silicone also smells bad. diy Navigon 2100 dash mount for mazda 6 without factory Nav. i didn't like using the windshield mount so i thought about putting it in the dash compartment of the 6. i wanted it to be low profile while driving and hoping that the compartment lid would help reduce glare. i thought of this and that but this is what i had to started with. music by: citizenCope "My Way Home" Tags: lesiam DIY Navigon 2100 car mount |

Humming bird Humming bird feeding two young babies in a nest. *using Aiptek camera and/or Swann wireless mini-security camera. the 4ch reciever connects to the Aiptek's input source. also used as one of my in-car setup. apologies for the clarity. the wireless cam's closeup is not in our favor. 55g planted aquarium i've done 10g and 2.5g planted setups. i wanted to turn the 55g into one. of course diy, poor mans, low-tech route. oh yeah i dont do aquascaping. as long as it grows i'll be happy. and i'll just trim when they grow in. setup: 55g, two dual shoplights 40w/tubes = 160w = ~2.9w/g, plant/aquarium & sunlight tubes, open top, supersoil and (play)sand subtrates, two small powerheads, 100w heater, no filter, airstone (night use only), eggcrates. plants: anachris/elodea, ludwigia (ovalis or repens?), watersprite, various cryptocorynes, dwarf anubias, brazilian pennywort, unknown (stem) pennywort, microswords, corkscrew vals, unknown amazonsword, and possible glossostigma (hitchhiker), which would be the best xmas gift for 2006. *update: it is a glossostigma elatinoides. i dont think any xmas gift will top this lil'plant. fish: 2m/4fm orange guppies, 4 otocinclus, 2 amano shrimps, 8 lampeyes. possibly will add a few small angels to eat a few guppy fry. plant food: flourish iron and supplement, no co2 setup, just the once/day fish morning feeding. and night time oxygenation. those interested in this route. http://www.malloftheworld.com/aquarium/part1.htm http://www.aquaworldaquarium.com/Low_Tech_Planted_Aquarium.htm http://www.aquaworldaquarium.com/supersoil_planted_aquarium.htm More links http://www.freewebs.com/simplyorange537/plantedaquariumlinks.htm Tags: planted aquarium fish tank 55g low-tech lo-tech lesiam |

Camera Car Mount one of my in-car video setup. i just mount the Aiptek on to the mount. the other versions uses the Aiptek's input with security camera's on the mount. one is wired the other is wireless. that may help reduce vibration. (6mb). *update: the acrylic square tube was purchased from TapPlastic a westcoast store, but you may be able to find it at a crafts store. or use a wooden type. the universal screw/thread for most cameras is 1/4th. make sure its not an actual screw tip but a bolt tip. downsides: the seat that its attached to needs to be positioned in a slightly forward position. and it vibrates on rough roads. placing a support beam directly under the camera and placed on to a surface like the armrest may help aid in reducing strong vertical vibrations. diy eyeglass cam i had planned on using this for pistol matches but never got a chance to try it out. i haven't yet tested it at the outdoor range since i go to the indoor with poor lane lighting. it is a cheap wired mini security camera w/audio connected to the Aiptek MPVR via external source. the Aiptek and SecCam is powered separately via the ac/dc converter. the wired SecCam is wedged on to my sunglasses frame, which has an angle to it as you can see. i have to drive with my head tilted to the left. lol.
