Masking/Cloning in Sony Vegas Pro A few people asked for it so here it is. My own tutorial on how to mask in Sony Vegas Pro to give the illusion that there are several versions of yourself in one video. Keep in mind that Sony Vegas Pro is the only software out of the 3 Sony Vegas software options that supports masking so if you are not using Pro you will not be able to do this. I ran into some issues with my webcam & the video capture software messing up the videos. Basically what happened was my audio and video became unsynchronized a few minutes into each video so basically what I did for the live action video was I removed the sound and narrated the video. With the screenshot portion where I am working in sony vegas you will notice that the audio is not correctly synched up with the video. There is only a delay of a few seconds, however; so I didn't feel it was necessary to narrate that portion again. I hope this video is helpful in your attempts to clone/mask in Sony Vegas Pro. Feel free to post your work as a video response as I would love to see what you all come up with. If you have any questions/comments you can leave them below or send me a message over youtube and I'll be happy to answer them. Again, I hope this video is helpful to you. it is my first tutorial video so it's not really anything special. Next time I know not to use my web cam to capture video. If you have any other requests for tutorials just let me know and I'll throw something together that is of better quality than this tutorial. Good luck! Thank you! Try Masking.. tutorial using Sony Vegas 8 For previous tutorials check out the playlist on my channel http://uk.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=6947438DA744D525 In this week's tutorial we'll look at masking in Vegas 8 (aparently it is also available in Vegas 6 too) which is great for split screening as it allows any shape to be created unlike the cookie cutter and showing video/pics through your main video amongst other uses. It would be useful to watch the previous tutorial on creating animated backgrounds and keyframing (playlist on my channel) ☺ Tags: richw4 little rich sony vegas no chroma key movie special effects tutorial fx mask masking animation rotoscoping |

Backwards Masking and Phonetic Reversals X signing. I think I shall share with you one of my favorite hobbies: listening to music backwards. First, let me preface the difference between the two divisions of the phenomenon known as "backmasking". "Backwards masking" is the overt alteration of a song's track. It is produced by the recording and then reverse superimposing of a message on the original track. (The Beatles were the first known to do this. Archetypal examples can also be found in the music of Pink Floyd and ELO, as you will hear.) A "phonetic reversal", on the other hand, is the result of hearing distinct words or phrases from the lyrics when playing an unaltered piece of music in reverse. My first experience with "backmasking" was about 1986, in a protestant church of all places, when the pastor was attempting to frighten partishoners away from popular music by demonstrating the supposed satanic messages one can discern from certain pieces of music when played in reverse. (One of the pieces that was being played must have been by ELO, as I can still remember the cover art with Dorothy's red slippers from The Wizard of Oz). Although I do not recall making out any discernable phrases at the time, the ominous, preternatural voice that was created by playing the music in reverse and then slowing it down, was enough to frighten what was then a 5-year-old boy for years to come. It scared me so much in fact, that I convinced my mother to take me home in the middle of the demonstration. However, as has often been the case in my life, that which I initially fear eventually becomes the object of my fascination. That was never more true in this case. After being haunted for years by my experience in the church, I began to become more curious of what I had heard, and wondered what there was to it. Also, I found the idea of cryptic messages in music to be quite tantalizing. Though I have always been strictly partial to orchestral music and symphonic film scores, I started recording music of all genres off the radio to play in reverse. This was before I had a computer, so I was forced to take the cassette tapes apart and invert the ribbon in order to achieve the backwards affect. While this greatly diminished the sound quality, it still worked sufficiently enough. And thus began my hobby. I believe I shall begin with an example of "backwards masking" from ELO's popular "Fire on High". This can be heard on the bizarre, avant guardist opening to the entirely instrumental piece. [Refer to video] What makes this of particular interest, is that the voice plainly, literally states that the music is reversible. And, in fact, phonetic reversals can be found in some of ELO's music, such as this example from "El Dorado" [Refer to video] This is one of the more subjective reversals, I think. Now for a rather humorous reversal from Pink Floyd's "Empty Spaces". It is rather faint, so you must listen closely. [Refer to video] Moving along now, no exhibition music reversals would be complete without Led Zeppelin's famous, infamous "Stairway to Heaven". Supposedly, Jimmy Page wrote the song in one afternoon while living in the house of the Boleskine estate - once owned by occultist Aleister Crowley. According to legend, an unseen force guided Page's hand as he scribbled the lyrics on paper. [Refer to video] I could go into the entire background of the Crowley connection and significance of the word "toolshed", but that would be a video in itself. If you are interested, the internet is replete with information regarding this subject. Now, to prove that alleged satanic messages in music reversals are not exclusive to the rock genre, I'd like to share you one of my own discovers - an excerpt from Bing Crosby's seemingly innocuous Christmas classic, "Silver Bells". [Refer to video] For the finale, I would like you to listen to what I find to be perhaps the cleareast and most phonetically natural reversal I have heard to date - at least the last part of it. It is another of my own find, and is taken from Run DMC's hit "Don't Stop". Nothing satanic, but it's still a fun listen and is in keeping with the rap genre's idioms. [Refer to video] I have found 95% of this phenomenon to be like an auditory Rorschach test, 5% deliberate manipulation on the part of the artists (particularly in The Beatle's case, which is another story entirely), and 0% satanic force. Nevertheless, music reversals, for me at least, remain an immensely fascinating phenomenon. Elvis has left the building. Hikari Sentai Maskman Masking Brace 光戦隊マスクマン マスキングブレス You read right! This is a review of THE Masking Brace. The one and only! Let's get right into it... Watching the first episode of Maskman, you'll notice something. The lack of a Henshin device. OK, well that's not too uncommon...but as the series goes on...it seems pretty clear that the Masking Brace hardly has any screentime. It's basically used as a communicator. It's featured nowhere in the Henshin sequence... Here I am though, looking at one of the oddest looking chunks of plastic in my collection. Some call it beautiful, some say it's ugly. I just think it's misunderstood. Well, not really. It's just not as beautiful as the Prism Flash [Flashman's Henshin Brace]. Nor is it as cool as the Twin Brace [Liveman Henshin Brace] a year later. It's just...there. The toy itself is of the usual brilliant quality Bandai used throughout the 80s [and basically into the final years there made their toys in Japan]. Not only does it feature the flash device from the Prism Flash [again, the flash mechanism from a disposible camera] but it features a three mode watch! Date, Time, and Seconds. I guess my only two gripes are that it lack an animation [therefor this isn't an Anime Watch like Goggle Five, Dynaman, Bioman, and Changeman had] and it's also an odd design. Not to mention, it runs on two different batteries! One for the flash and the other for the watch! Worse, the watch battery is completely different from the previous Anime Watches. Bah! So there you have it. It's an interesting toy. Good and bad...and certainly swept under the carpet. If you spot one...snap it up right away! It's extremely rare and valuable! Thanks for watching my review of the Masking Brace! This was initially going to be my Christmas review...but no worries. Next Monday I will post a special two-part review in time for Christmas! Take care and be sure to subscribe if you haven't already! P.S. I love every oportunity I get to use a song by Hironobu Kageyama! He rocks! [except in JAM Project...yick] P.S. 2: My fingers are webbed...some worse than others.
