Rafael Mendez - Haydn Trumpet Concerto In this second installment of the Rafael Mendez special entitled "The Trumpet," Mendez begins with discussing the origins of the trumpet and then plays an exceptional rendition of the third movement of the Haydn trumpet concerto. For those of you familiar with this piece it will be a breath of fresh air to hear Mendez's version. This was the first piece written for the keyed trumpet, and Haydn wrote this concerto to really showcase this brand new instrument. Unlike other classical trumpet performances of this piece where the trumpet sounds like a part of the orchestra, Mendez electrifies the show by playing with such vigor and virtuosity. I think Mendez is doing Haydn a great favor by playing this piece not as part of an orchestra, but as a trumpet player. Haydn intended this to showcase the trumpet, and Mr. Mendez does just that. Chamamé "Tus Recuerdos" Gicela Méndez Ribeiro http://gicela.blogspot.com videoclip "Tus recuerdos" de la cantante correntina Gicela Méndez Ribeiro se adjudicó el Primer Premio en el CONCURSO - MÚSICOS ARGENTINOS DEL NEA LITORAL ORGANIZADO POR CANAL 9. El video que fue dirigido por Marcel Czombos fue grabado durante 4 días en Coronel Du Graty, ubicado al sur del Chaco, el lugar fue la pista de baile "El Colón" una pista abandonada al costado de la ruta 95 a unos 10 km de Du Graty. Esta Pista fue en los años 60, un punto de referencia para el chamamé en la región y por su escenario pasaron los referentes de la música del litoral: Isaco, Transito, Tarragó, Don Ernesto. entre otros. El video toma como forma de homenaje este lugar para recordar aquellos años, donde el chamamé sonaba con mucho fervor, también como consecuencia directa del auge algodonero, que traía de toda la zona del litoral, a cosecheros golondrinas a trabajar y con ellos también venia acoplado su música. El tema "tus recuerdos" es un clásico chamame de Don Ernesto Montiel y Julio Montes y en el video tiene como protagonista a "Cambá Galleta" un eximio bailarín que impuso un estilo en la forma de bailar el chamamé y su acompañante Diana Sherer los dos de la ciudad de Mercedes en Corrientes. Los músicos que acompañan en éste videoclip son Jorge Bernárdez en guitarra y Cesar Frette en acordeón. Este videoclip también forma parte del primer disco solista de Gicela: "Por el caminito" y que saldrá a la venta en las próximas semanas. Para este disco la cantante se rodeó de una formación mayoritariamente acústica integrada por algunos de los mejores instrumentistas de la provincia de Corrientes. La originalidad en los arreglos creado por "Cacho" Nuñez, son la marca distintiva de "tus recuerdos" y de todo el disco.
