Senegal Ecovillage Microfinance Fund www.sem-fund.org The SEM Fund, or the Senegal Ecovillage Microfinance Fund, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to alleviating poverty by providing low-interest business loans aimed at strengthening the business skills and livelihoods of highly motivated microentrepreneurs that are excluded from the commercial banking system. Currently, our focus is the thirty-three poverty-stricken villages in the West African nation of Senegal, which are a part of the Global Ecovillage Network, Senegal (GENSEN). The SEM Fund's mission is to help break the cycle of poverty afflicting the people of developing countries. We are based on the premise that effective and sustainable development can be achieved by opening up opportunities for poor people to control their own economic futures. We do not provide handouts that create dependencies. We believe that in order to generate the greatest impact, as much of our funding as possible should be used for the communities in which we work. Therefore, donations to The SEM Fund go towards expanding our reach throughout Senegal and providing loans which once repaid will be loaned out again, thus creating a revolving loan fund. As part of our commitment to complete transparency, The SEM Fund has had its operational information and financial reports reviewed and published by the MIX Market, a third-party microfinance reporting organization. Ramadan campaign The Zikra Initiative held a successful three Ramadan events that were sponsored by the International Advertising Association (IAA), Jo Bedu, Esense and the Amman Filmmakers Cooperative, TOYOTA, VARCC arabian communication, Umniah, and Radisson Sas in collaboration with Ghor Handicapped Institute. The campaign aimed to support the citizens of Ghor Al Mazraa during the month of Ramadan through interpersonal relations between the volunteers and the Ghor participants and to raise funds for Zikras micro-loan program. The campaign was a success with over 500 participants from Amman and Ghor Al Mazraa attending in total and it raised money for two new families to have the opportunity to open a small business to financially sustain themselves through Zikras micro-loan program. The Zikra Initiative organized a series of interactive activities for the volunteers so that they may experience the Ghor lifestyle as well as appreciate the various talents and skills those in Ghor have acquired due to their harsh living conditions. Volunteers got to learn and try how to make a Hatta, create decorations and toys with recyclable materials as well as make bread. Through these activities, the volunteers and the Al Ghor participants worked and interacted together. Volunteers and participants also painted houses to help stimulate childrens creativity and for both the volunteers and participants to work together to achieve a similar objective. Volunteers and participants also got to break their Ramadan fast together, feasting on traditional food from Ghor. The nights ended with fun festivities such as Amer Khuffash singing Eid songs, Nadia Odeh screening her short film YaHallawood directed by the Amman Filmmakers Cooperated that was created as a filmmaking workshop at Ghor Al Mazraa. The film has also had recognition and will be screened in Abu Dhabi and San Francisco film festivals. The night continued had a quiz night in which participants from Al Ghor got to answer questions and won mobile cards and phones from Umniah. Integrity Care Media Release and Sponsorship Appeal Make a lasting difference in the War on GLOBAL POVERTY It's a 'Hand Up' not a Hand Out PHILANTHROPIC PARTNERS NEEDED My business, kim-denyse.com, supports INTEGRITY Care which is a non government, public registered charity needing corporate sponsorship. Why is Integrity Care so unique and different to other charities? Integrity Care empowers impoverished women of the world to provide for themselves PERMANENTLY with as little as $100 Aust. How can this happen? It is called giving a 'Hand Up' not a 'Hand Out" - through Micro-loan Enterprise Development programs or M.E.D. Integrity Care's mission is to stimulate business development for the entrepreneurial-poor (especially women) through these micro-loans and then train them in business skills. You will be interested to know that Contributions to Integrity Care bypass governments, beaurocracy and corruption and have the potential to eliminate poverty all together. We don't lack the will, but we do lack the 'seed' money. We only need a small Administration and Project management team, working and travelling full time, to make this happen, globally. Therefore, Integrity Care seeks visionary business and philanthropic partners who want to make a lasting difference in the global war on poverty. If you consider yourself to be one of these people...or can introduce us to such visionary individuals or companies. Please contact us and we will respond promptly. Thank you in advance -- all it takes is a phone call or a simple mouse click Contact me at www.helloworld/kim-denyse kim-denyse@helloworld.com kdc@iprimus.com.au +61 (0412) 942937 or Gary Waters (Founder and Executive Director) through the www.integritycare.org website or call +61 (0411) 222 951 thanking you in advance The world looks forward to hearing from you.
