Face Image Relighting Using A Morphable Model http://cg.skeelogy.com/projects-face-relight.php In this project, we are trying to relight a face in a 2D image, given only a single image. The 3D face model is obtained first by using a morphable model. The matching/optimization then starts to find the best weights for the morphing. Finally, we relight the synthesized 3D model and composite it back onto the 2d image to obtain the results. Tags: Morphable Model Face Image Relighting Alpha Blend Lighting Change |

Texture Design Using Morphable Textures We present a system for designing novel textures in the space of textures induced by an input database. We capture the structure of the induced space by a simplicial complex where vertices of the simplices represent input textures. A user can generate new textures by interpolating within individual simplices. We propose a morphable interpolation for textures, which also defines a metric used to build the simplicial complex. To guarantee sharpness in interpolated textures, we enforce histograms of high-frequency content using a novel method for histogram interpolation. We allow users to continuously navigate in the simplicial complex and design new textures using a simple and efficient user interface. We demonstrate the usefulness of our system by integrating it with a 3D texture painting application, where the user interactively designs desired textures. http://people.csail.mit.edu/wojciech/ Tags: computer graphics image cg cgi generated images ibr image-based rendering 3D synthesis interpolation morphing data |

Chill Out Planet Earth (FlashAudioSynthesis) # This is actually a runtime flash experiment, which has no given end. The melody is created by overlaying tracks with different lengths. Give it some time to get more complex. The sound synthesis is running on a polyphonic synthesizer, which has a morphable waveform (square, quadratic) and a stereo-delay. The compiled SWF is below 8KB. This video contains one cycle. # Audiosynthesis with the Flashplayer(9) is relatively new to the flash-community and done by a *big hack*. This is my first synthesized 'music-animation' based on my own audio creation code. # Find more flash experiments in my laboratory at: http://lab.andre-michelle.com Tags: flash actionscript music audio synthesis synthesizer particle andre michelle laboratory chillout planet earth |

'Debating' a creationist (part 2) My latest attempt to reason with venomfangx. In the meantime it looks like Venomfangx has now utterly lost the plot, claiming in his latest video (initially entitled 'I can disprove Evolution (How I won the Nobel Prize)) that: 'I expect my nobel prize to be given to Shawn, the possessor of the Venomfangx youtube account.' It is difficult to know how to respond to that other than to say that he has formally unplugged from reality. This is such an utterly wild statement that its no longer in the realm of mere ignorance and stupidity, but into the range of 4* batshit crazy! He also has given up actually appearing in his videos (I can't think where he got that non-narcissistic idea from!) *Edit 19th May 08* Well VFX has deleted the video claiming he has won a Nobel Prize (can't think why he did that! but dont worry though VFX I have a copy for the record). He now claims merely to have disproved evolution, and all it took was a 10 minute unfocused ramble where he ignores virtually everything that has been discovered over the last 150 yrs. Regrettably a display of ignorance is not an accepted method of 'disproving' something in the scientific literature. Microsoft Patterns and Practices Workspace Design Microsoft patterns & practices develops Microsoft's proven recommendations for how to design, develop, deploy, and operate architecturally sound applications for the Microsoft platform. See how their new workspace provides a variety of "morphable" situation rooms to enable agile programming as well as private and shared office space. Core to the space is a central divisible, reconfigurable group situation room designed to quickly and easily provide smaller project rooms or completely open up for large group gatherings. UTD Arts and Technology Logo Concept This is a 3D version of a logo concept I proposed for the University of Texas at Dallas Arts and Technology department. The box in the space between the two wordforms was to be an iconic, flexible, morphable branding system with representative icons on the sides (or in 3D themselves) from each of the various disciplines within ATEC (gaming, sound design, filmmaking, animation, etc.). In terms of wordmark the department could choose either to keep the central Ts separate, or have the central unified T stay colored (orange, teal, whatever) against the black type of the rest of the wordmark. Because our department and what it teaches represents the "space in between arts and technology" (as our department head said), and the joining and merging of arts and technology I thought this concept a fitting one. The department went with another design that better fit the aesthetics of our department head's tastes. I am still impressed by the strength of concept and flexibility of this design, and thank the Inspiration Gods for bestowing it upon me. I also want to thank my classmate, speddee, for helping me lay it out in 3ds Max. Tags: logo branding concept morph |

Morphing figure test A figure that Morphs. The white line is morphable object that is part of the figure. The figure has 2 second animated up down movement cycle. The white line has about 4 morphs turned on and off. Since its been asked before. There is a really good morph tutorial at: homepage.ntlworld.com/w.watson3/main.html Under: an8 tutorial - animation - flag tutorial Notes: when building morphs you can move points around and use warp modifers and scale. However you can not add/subtract point nor move entire objects. Tags: morph figure test anim8or movement cycle animate 3d |
