Earthbound 64 (Mother 3) Nintendo 64 Unreleased Beta http://www.unseen64.net http://www.starmen.net In 1996, Nintendo and HAL Labs planned to release a sequel to the quirky RPG series known as the Mother series in Japan, and the Earthbound series to the US. It was well planned out, and the project was headed by Shigesato Itoi, the same person who was involved in Mother 1 and 2. The game continued in the quirky style of the past games of the Mother series, with various different elements all combined into one game. [...] However, while the story was well planned storyline-wise, the development team was not used to working with 3D graphics. They had trouble developing it, and the game suffered delay after delay. It ran into further delays when, around 1998, it was announced as one of the launch titles for the 64DD, a disk-drive attachment for the Nintendo 64 which planned to enhance games. As the 64DD met it's doom in Japan, Mother 3 moved off of its list of games. Mother 3 made an appearance of Spaceworld in 1999, showing screenshots, a movie, and a playable demo, and with this, it looked as if Mother 3 would finally come out. All these signs of completion showed nothing. The game suffered further delays following spaceworld, when finally, in late summer of 2000, it was announced that Mother 3 was cancelled. The shock hit the Earthbound community hard, but Mother 3 simply had too many problems at the time. It was full of bugs and still not completed. It was also losing interest, as the new Gamecube system made the Nintendo 64 obsolete. MOTHER3 - Pokey-Bots Pokey really loves himself. That's why he had a number of Pokey-bots created - robots in his boyish likeness. They're not really tough, but when they explode it hurts a bit. If you're not careful you can get your ass handed to you, regardless of level. There are 7 Pokey-bots in all, and most of this fight is simple combo action, occasional healing. They pulled the EarthBound demo from the Masterpieces section of Smash Bros Brawl. Why? Nobody knows for sure, but one thing seems obvious: it's not good news. If EB doesn't come out on VC, then the series is officially dead in America. So not only are millions of gamers missing out on EarthBound (do you realize that it sells no lower than $70 and as high as $450 on eBay?), but Nintendo of America is taking away our only chance to prove how well MOTHER 3 could perform outside Japan. LAME. But we've dealt with this kind of disappointment for 13 years, so instead of moping and complaining, we're doing what we do best -- kicking up a creative dust cloud. Mother 3: Hinawa's Death I know you probably can't read Japanese. But basically this is when Flint's wife, Hinawa, dies when trying to protect Lucas and Claus from a Drago thing. It's pretty sad. Mother 3 (マザースリー, Mazā Surī?) is a role-playing video game developed by HAL Laboratory and Brownie Brown, and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance handheld game console. It was released in Japan on April 20, 2006. It is the third and final video game in the Mother trilogy of video games, known as EarthBound outside of Japan. Details of its development were kept secret since it was announced in June 2003 during a Mother 1 + 2 television commercial in Japan. The game has remained near the top of Famitsu's Most Wanted Games list since its announcement, only once falling below number 10 to number 11. Immediately before its release, Mother 3 was the Most Wanted Game in Japan according to Weekly Famitsu. Mother 3 is set in a land called the Nowhere Islands. Chaos ensues in the Nowhere Islands after an invasion by the Pig Mask Army, humans in uniforms that resemble pigs. The Pig Mask Army is named for its creator, Pokey (Porky) Minch. The Pig Mask Army slowly constructs a police state, while performing bizarre experiments on the land's flora and fauna. The invaders also introduce new technology and infrastructure to the islands. The story unfolds in different chapters. The various chapters of the story record the trials and tribulations of a boy named Lucas, his family, and friends, who reside in Tazmily Village and band together to rid Nowhere Island of the Pig Army's influence. The game opens with Flint, who soon finds out his wife, Hinawa has died, leaving him to raise their sons, Claus and Lucas. After Claus goes missing to kill the Draco (dinosaur) that killed his mother, Flint, with the help of Boney and Duster go looking for him. Claus ultimately lost the battle and was killed. Mother 3: The Next-to-Last Battle Note: Don't click "more" if you don't want spoilers! Also, there is some lag; that's a software issue I can do nothing about. Video of the battle against Pokey, which is the next to last boss battle of Mother 3. Party's average level is 64, since this is my first playthrough, so I make short work of him. Pokey hits pretty hard, but my party also hits hard. Lucas (named Will in the video) uses Offense Up [omega] and Boney uses the Shield Stealer in the first round. After that, Lucas uses PK Love [omega] and Kumatora uses PK Starstorm every round, healing when necessary. Duster uses the Tickle Feather once, then he and Boney use standard attacks and combos. Unfortunately, Pokey is sneaky with setting up his Psycho-Counter, so my party gets hit a couple of times by its own PSI attacks. At the end of the battle, Pokey enters his Absolutely Safe Capsule, and is impervious to all damage...but he can't attack. NOTE: A few people have asked about translations.
