Epic 12-hour lawn mower race The 12-hour lawn-mower in Pulborough, West Sussex, saw 40 teams battled through the night to claim top honours in the most prestigious event of the lawn mower racing calendar in England. Competitors were divided in three different classes and each team had three drivers swapping periodically. For obvious safety reasons, all the blades were removed from the machines. Amazingly, most of the mowers were still in contention as the final hours crept by. After a painful night of hard driving, number 6 mower named 'Accident Prone Racing' took the chequered flag, with drivers Tim Ticehurst, Tony Kirkby and Alex Nickols having completed 366 laps. Could it be any harder Chapter 8 WITH Carley (This starts when the rest got into detention) "Hey Nicholas! Do you wanna walk home with me?" Carley came running up to Nick. Nick turned around and smiled when he saw who it was. "Sure. And call me Nick, Nickols sounds like you're my parents or something" "Okay then. I'll cal you Nick, Nick" Carley said smiling nervous. "Soo.. Your friend doesn't really like me, huh?" Nick asked Carley as they continued walking. Carley looket at Nick, not knowing exactly what to say. "Uhm.. No, she likes you, it's just that-" "She doesn't like me" Nick finished. "Look, it's not that she doesn't like you, she doesn't know you! It's just that she's the type that need some time to adjust to new things" To new people" Carley explained. "Okay, so you don't have to adjust, right?" Nick asked. "No! That's not possible living in my house. I've got six siblings and another girl living at our house, so there are a LOT of new people coming into my life" she told him. They continued walking, and as theycame to a large, white house with a huge garden in front, which was filled with toys, bikes, and what not Carley stopped. "Well this is my house. You wanna come in?" "Uh.. Sure" Nick said a little nervous. They went into Carley's house, and into the kitchen, and found Carley's mom talking on the phone. "They WHAT?! All four of them?! Geez! Yeah.. Bye" she hung up and found Carley standind in the door with a confused look on her face. And Nick behind her, trying not to be seen. "Mike!!! Chris!!! Get down here!! I need favor!!" She yelled up the stairs. "Mom, who was that?" Carley asked curiosly. "THAT was a girl working at the high school, telling me that Emma, Luke, Mark and Amanda got into detention for starting a fight, defending some boy named Joseph or something!" her mom said annoyed. Nick looked down at the floor. She didn't say a last name or anything, but he knew who it was. Carley's mom suddenly noticed Nick. "Hi there! I'm Julie, Carley's mom! Nice to meet you!" she said "Uh.. Hi, I'm Nick, nice-" He got cut off by Mike and Chris coming down the stairs bickering. "Just forget it!! I'm not letting you date her Mike!!" Chris said angrily. "What? Just cuz she broke up with you? That's a lame ass excuse bro!" Mike teased. "She didn't break up with me!! It was a mutual desicion!!" "Riight... You keep telling yourself that!" Mike said amused. "Guys, stop it." Their mother said firmly, and they stopped. "Now can you go pick up your siblings from detention?" "They got into detention on their first day?!" they asked in unison. "I'm so proud to be their brother now" Mike said "Whwere did you go wrong with them mom? I'm starting to think I'm the only one who's normal" Chris joked. They were on their way out of the door when they noticed Carley and Nick. They came to a halt and looked at eachother. "They're growing up so fast" Mike said and faked a sob. "First Emma started with boys, and now Carley!! It's just a matter of time before Leslie starts!" Chris continued. Carley was glaring at them while trying to push them out the door. "I feel like I'm not wanted! Chris saidm faking his sadness. "I know the feeling bro" Mike said. Finally Carley managed to get them out. As the door slammed they could hear Chris yelling from outside "We know how to throw a fist kid!!" then they heard two car doors slam, and the car pulling out of the driveway- "Finally!! I thought they'd never leave!" Carley said. Nick was just standing there looking, well that's exactly Carley's problem. She couldn't read him. "You okay there Nick?" Nick napped out of his 'trance' and looked at her. "Uhm... Yeah, I'm okay" he said. "Okayy... You wanna go up to my room?" she asked. Him. He looked over at her mom, who didn't say anything as she heard her daughters quieston, just continued with the dinner. He looked at Carley "Sure.." he said and so they walked upstairs. WITH EVERYONE ELSE After fifteen minutes of Kevin and Amanda banging at the door, yelling help in hope of someone to hear them, they gave up. Amanda had run off to the girls bathroom, avoiding everyobdy. And the rest had ran to the library, in hope that themself would be first to find a couch, and occupy it. Kevin didn't catch a couch, since he was banging on the door when the others started the competition. So he shared the floor with Chris, who hadn't noticed that the others had started running.
