Latinsizer / Celofán - (Nortec Collective/Fussible member) Latinsizer, video from the track "Celofán". Tomatoes, Drum Machines, Onions, Knobs, Lettuce, Analog Synths, Chilly, Cables, Tortillas, knifes, Beef and Nurses. download high resolution version here: http://www.latinsizer.com/latinsizer-celofan.mov ( 58 Mb )( ipod, quicktime, media player etc ) www.latinsizer.com www.myspace.com/latinsizer Music by Latinsizer @ 2007 Video by Sergio Brown / Pepe Mogt music made with MS-20, Drumulator, dr-110, Xpander and Four Voice Oberheim. In this project Pepe Mogt works with a very synthetic and basic set of musical tools to create a quirky approach to electronic music exemplified by "Ritmo 55", the first track released by Latinsizer which appeared on the Nortec Experimental CD. This approach could be described as a combination of the melodic work of early synth Pop classics such as Eno-era Roxy Music and Switched on Bach, modular synth based artists like Tangerine Dream and the grit of urban Tijuana, Latinsizer "live at MUtek.mx CD" has a more noise dance oriented aproach without loosing his analog roots Latinsizer becomes an alternate project to Nortec, and particularly, to Fussible, recently playing at experimental and dance music festivals like Mutek or Decibel, currently is working on his new album and EP, Celofán is a video of his latest works. MS-20 The MS-20 was one of Korg's first major successful portable analog monosynths and even today it is still a great little machine! The MS-20 is the big brother to the MS-10. It is an analog two-oscillator monophonic lead and bass synth with hard wired and patchable connections. The hard-wiring can be overridden however, using patch-cords. This type of hard-wired but patchable design was similar to the ARP 2600 of the late seventies. Of course the 2600 was much bigger and better. But the MS-20 offered a lot of flexible control and great sounds at a more affordable price. In addition to two analog oscillators, the MS-20 featured two resonant VCF filters, two VCAs, sample and hold, a noise generator, an assignable mod-wheel and lots of knobs! The VCF filter section is capable of high-pass, low-pass, notch and band-reject which is unique and different than your basic lowpass style filter. External sound sources can be routed through the filter section as well. In fact William Ørbit uses the filter in his MS-20 relentlessly to filter and tweak his samples, beats, delay returns, vocals, etc. As for its sounds, the MS-20 sounds great! It makes a great alternative for Minimoog-seekers. The MS-20 is great for just about any type of analog synth sound you could want! Fat round bass sounds, percussive bass or sounds, noise effects, squiggly-bubbly sounds or sinuous-worm leads are all waiting to be unleashed from inside this classic beast. The MS-20 is not only a great sounding instrument, but a great learning-synth. It is fairly easy and intuitive to operate but in doing so you can learn and understand more about synthesis and signal-flow. It is used by William Ørbit, Aphex Twin, Hardfloor, Air, SkyLab, Stereolab, Vince Clarke, Astral Projection, Biosphere, Apollo 440, Mr. Oizo, Jimi Tenor, The Prodigy, OMD, Freddy Fresh, Luke Vibert, Einstuerzende Neubauten, Add N to (X), Daft Punk, Coldcut, Die Krupps, Skinny Puppy, Electronic Dream Planet, Jimmy Edgar, Front 242, Front Line Assembly, The Legendary Pink Dots, KMFDM, Severed Heads, Royksopp, The Faint, The Shamen, Jean-Michel Jarre, and Portishead. FOUR VOICE / Oberheim A big step forward after the initial Oberheim SEM and Two Voice synthesizers came from the bigger and better Four Voice. Four dual-oscillator SEM modules each with its own filters and envelopes are joined together along with a simple analog mixer and 49-note keyboard to give you a polyphonic/polytonal Obie-beast! Unfortunately the Four Voice was blown out of the competition by the release of the polyphonic Sequential Prophet-5, which offered true polyphony with a single set of sound shaping controls and comprehensive patch memory. The Four Voice has been used by 808 State, Depeche Mode, Latinsizer, Styx, The Shamen, Gary Wright, Joe Zawinul and John Carpenter. Before Nortec Collective and Latinsizer / moog/oberheim/seq Back in 1988-1996 in Tijuana( US-Mexico Border) i was involved in diferent industrial, Noise Electronic Local Acts before i started with "Nortec Collective"(1999). At the same time i was working with Ramon Bostich to do an Ambient Noise Music Duo with a more analog synth touch, this poject called "Monithor" wich later become Latinsizer as a solo alias, this footage i founded in lost tapes from back in 1996, this video was taken at Monterrey city at an abandoned wharehouse from 1905 before it become a cultural park today (Parque Fundidora), Ramon and i did a total Analog Synth live set there in 1996 using using a couple of Moog Synths, Oberheims, analog sequencers and modified drum machines. enjoy De 1988 a 1996 estuve involucrado en varias agrupaciones de música electrónica post-industrial en Tijuana antes de empezar con el "Colectivo Nortec"(1999). Some may say so... An even cheaper version of this synth was made by Realistic (known as the Concertmate MG-1). The Rogue has a decent Moog filter with an external input and syncable VCO's. Still it does have its limitations in design and synthesis capabilities. Very basic and easy to use, the Rogue is an inexpensive place to get good Moog sounds! It is very similar in fact, to the Moog Taurus which is a bass pedal synthesizer system. Unfortunately the Rogue shows no sign of MIDI or patch memory. It is used by Peter Gabriel, Add N To (X), 808 State, Latinsizer, Stereolab, Mr. Oizo and KMFDM. MOOG SOURCE Moog's Source was their first to offer patch memory storage as well as some other new features. It boasted 16 memory locations so you could finally save and recall your synth patches. A casette-tape jack was also implemented to transfer your patches to and from an external tape and free up the on-board memory for additional new patches. But in an effort to modernize with the eighties, the Moog had replaced all buttons, knobs and sliders with flat-panel membrane buttons and a single data-wheel assignment format. At the time, this may have seemed far-out, but in all actuality it is the Source's downfall. Parameters are edited not with hands-on sliders and knobs but by assigning a selected parameter to the dedicated data wheel. This is very tedious and does not allow for true hands-on tweaking during performances nor can you adjust different parameters simultaneously or while playing. These days, the membrane buttons don't always seem to work quite right either. However, those famous monophonic Moog sounds are still inside this synth which has two fat analog oscillators and the legendary 24 dB Moog filter. The Source has been used by Tangerine Dream, Jan Hammer, Depeche Mode, Devo, Vince Clarke, New Order, Ultravox, Josh Wink, Front Line Assembly, Moog Cookbook, Kitaro, Imperial Drag, The Cars, Phish, The Rentals, King Crimson, Blur, and Gary Numan. OBERHEIM MATRIX 6 The Matrix 6R is the Matrix 6 without a keyboard, retaining its membrane programming interface. Oberheim later produced the Matrix 1000, which is essentially 1000 patches from the Matrix 6 in a 1-unit rack-module, preset and editable only through SysEx. For professional studio work or live on stage, both the Matrix 6 keyboard and rack-mount are excellent and versatile synths that make a great source of bright and punchy sounds, vintage analog pads, textures and ambient sounds. It is used by Orbital Apollo 440, Jimmy Edgar, Philip Glass, The Grid, Future Sound of London, Astral Projection, Latinsizer, The Shamen, Mouse on Mars, Tangerine Dream and Cirrus. bostich y fussible Tags: drum machine circuit bend tr-606 analog sequencer synth modular moog oberheim tr909 latinsizer nortec tijuana pepe mogt |

- - - This also shot by Lxuk Dorsett at the " Zona Nortec" show at Club Maya (Rosarito, BC Sep 9, 2006). I'd been wanting to hear that classic Depeche Mode song played by a "tambora" band, so I was very glad when we did the cover that night. "Tambora" or "Banda" music is a genre indigenous to the north of Mexico and is based around polka rhythms and uses mainly wind instruments such as trumpets, clarinets, tuba, etc, as well as percussion. Older DM material ( especially their 80's work) used a lot of sampled and synthetic wind instrument sounds, so the idea of doing a Depeche cover with a "tambora" banda, seemed very natural to me. Nortec never does live covers, but we made a very worthwhile exception in this case. I'm sure no one in the audience was expecting it. Later, I was very surprised when I played the clip to my friend Vero, and she pointed out that Juan ( BAC's second vocalist), sounds a lot like Marc Almond ! nortec cwejman modular synth+TR-909 from Live at mutek.mx CD this is a bassline extracted from latinsizer track "Centro*"(from "Latinsizer Live at MUTEK.mx" CD 2005 ), i just remake that bass using one Cwejman Oscillator, one ADSR, and filter, the secuence was made with Doepfer MAQ-16 in sync with TR-909 distorted with Sonic Aleniator. cheers pepe mogt / latinsizer / nortec collective http://www.myspace.com/latinsizer *Centro (only available in "Latinsizer Live at MUTEK .mx" CD 2005 ) The TR-909 is an awesome analog drum machine! THE standard House and Techno beatbox. Sounds include kick, snare, hand clap, open and closed hi hats, low mid and hi toms, rim shot, ride and crash cymbals. Sounds are tweakable - attack, tone, tuning, decay, snap and accent. This machine does not sound like true acoustic drums, and we don't want it to. It has a unique and very loveable analog sound that's all its own! Extremely popular today, especially for dance, it is used by 808 State, Air, Bushflange, Future Sound of London, Moby, Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim), Orbital, Hardfloor, Uberzone, Underworld, The Prodigy, Faithless, ATB, Eat Static, Jimmy Edgar, Sense Datum, Richie Hawtin, A Guy Called Gerald, Astral Projection, Josh Wink, Freddy Fresh, Jean-Michel Jarre, Luke Vibert, Latinsizer, the Chemical Brothers, and many more! It is armed with Roland's DIN Sync and MIDI, individual outputs, external memory cartridges, and an essential shuffle & flam for great grooves. Use it as a sound module or program patterns, songs and beats into it...either way you'll be in analog drum heaven with the 909! 909 text from http://www.vintagesynth.com/ cwejman vco-2rm The Cwejman VCO-2RM has two independent full featured VCOs and a ring modulator. It has internal connections for sync and linear frequency cross modulation, and are also pre patched to the ring modulator. All these connections go through normalized jacks, so external signals can also be used. They deliver square and pulse waves, triangle, sine and four variants of ramp wave, each adding more over tones with a more nasal timbre. The VCOs can be switched to LFO mode and has both normal and inverted output. They have a classic warm and fat VCO sound, not as harsh as the Doepfer, and not so muddy as the Analogue Systems. It sounds so good that I don't automatically want to put them through in a filter to shape it. The PWM sound is extremely beefy. I can't guarantee the CV tracking all to the very top, but it sweeps from LFO to beyond the hearing level to somewhere around 22 KHZ. Even at high modulation levels, it does not go into distortion, and keeping its warmth. That makes it a very good tool for FM sounds. The ring modulator is also a high quality unit. It sounds good, and accepts both AC and DC, making it useful as a VCA unit if needed. On the downside, there are mainly two things. First, the waveform is determinate by a knob. I would have preferred to have them in separate outputs. The second is the lack of an octave switch.
