SSTC - Solid State Tesla Coil Short Run Short run of my SSTC I built a couple of years ago, shot in the back garden as it's the only place I'm 'allowed' to run it. This SSTC is driven by a Plasmasonic board I got from Dan McCauley and is running in single ended mode supplied with half wave rectified 240 VAC @ 4.5A (approx. 170 VDC) and produces 12 - 16 inch from the breakout point. Audio Modulated SSTC Solid State Tesla Coil - First Light Here is a short clip of my first Audio Modulated Solid State Tesla Coil. I finally got round to re-configuring my Plasmasonic board from Single Ended mode to Continuous Wave mode so it could be audio driven. I have also added a full bridge rectified / smoothed DC supply. This is the coils first light and I must apologise for the poor audio & excessive background noise, it's partly due to the cooling fans and partly due to the portable audio device I'm using to drive it. It really didn't like the amount of RF floating about although it worked well enough to test the system. The track playing is Inca Roads by Frank Zappa, it sounds really cool through this system and once I get the audio source sorted I think it will sound even better. If you are wondering - Yes it is setup on top of a toilet, the good lady doesnt allow me to run my coils anywhere else (except outside) although I guess it puts a whole new twist to the whole 'Zappa on the Crappa' story!
