The Lion King R Rated Movie Trailer This is my version of a movie trailer for The Lion King which was created for a multimedia class I was taking last year. I came up with the idea while listening to the song Fire in the Sky by Hypocrisy. Towards the end, there is a great build-up from the bridge towards the outro. I always thought that the bridge of that song would be a great ending for a violent movie trailer. My first choice was The Gangs of New York because of the violence; but then I thought I would be competing against a similar movie trailer and that's not what I was trying to do. We all know that Disney adds subliminal messages to their movies such as the palace in The Little Mermaid resembles a huge penis, Aladin with the audio splices of "good teenagers take off their clothes" on the balcony scene and the monkey saying "oh sh*t" during the cave lava scene and The Lion King with the word "sex" written in flowers when Simba falls to the ground at the cliff etc. So I decided to show the true message with a Disney movie by taking away the songs, the funny scenes, and the sugar-coated marketing Disney likes to throw at children. The true message in The Lion King is jealousy, deceit, betrayal and murder. It was easy to go through the movie and pick violent scenes and put them together with some violent songs. Had this movie trailer been the original, the G rating for this movie would probably have been given an R rating for some disturbing content and persistent violence. Except for the Hypocrisy song, all of the songs in my movie trailer are bits from other movie soundtracks. I took parts from Braveheart, Titanic, Interview with the Vampire, and The Hills Have Eyes (the Titanic bit is played backwards from the original recording, the Hills Have Eyes bit is the sound effect at the end when The Lion King title goes to white and the Interview with the Vampire bit was used to do the scene change after the intro song of my version). See a big, bad, villain, Chandra, 6th Gen Assamite, was bringing unrest (think: carnage & chaos) to the peaceful vampire community of Bloomington. So Hadeas, very powerful Malkavian and one-time lover of Chandra's when they were in Ancient Rome together, decided it was time to stop her. This is their fight.
