This text is from the GOARMY website http://www.goarmy.com/life/living_the_army_values.jsp Many people know what the words Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage mean. But how often do you see someone actually live up to them? Soldiers learn these values in detail during Basic Combat Training (BCT), from then on they live them every day in everything they do'whether they're on the job or off. In short, the Seven Core Army Values listed below are what being a Soldier is all about. Loyalty Duty Respect Selfless Service Honor Integrity Personal Courage Army SSG Recruiter rents house June 02. He abandoned the house in Dec 06, leaving behind $1000's in damages, pot of feces, urine soaked/feces stained carpets, copies of social security cards, birth certificates, criminal records, school transcripts and other completed recruiter's paperwork. His Commanding Officer gave him a BIG assist by lying to homeowner to get evidence. In April 2007, the Commanding Officer promised quick closure to the embarrassing situation and use of his recruiters to make it happen. He promised his recruiters would work in shifts to complete the tasks. The CO offered, in exchange for his help in resolving this, and as a show of mutual support, that I turn the evidence over to him. I was advised to comply by legal counsel. The CO came into my personal home (twice) and was given two large trash bags of evidence, as agreed. The Army Captain disappears. The location of the evidence is not known to me. The Recruiter house stripping detail, led by a SFC, strips house of everything, including all the carpeting. Additional damage was done by this stripping detail. This Recruiter Stripping Detail still leaves behind ammunition boxes in trash. It is not known how many rounds were in the trash. Some of the ammunition boxes were removed by people searching through the debris. Kids later find military ammunition and a clip. I collected what I could. The Norfolk Police Department has the ammunition in their evidence locker. Still no closure for homeowner. More papers were found in the debris left outside by the Recruiter stripping detail. Homeowner was sued for $15K, for making slanderous/libelous statements. That case was dismissed in court because all statements he made were statements of fact. Two of three soldiers subpoenaed from the SSG's local command testified truthfully in court on 30 July 08. Still waiting for local Recruiting Command to do the right thing, as outlined in the Army's CORE VALUES and other instructions. A subpoenaed 1SG mentioned in court that all the recruiters volunteered for the house stripping detail. If this is true, then every recruiter that participated chose to ignore some of the Army's Seven Core Values and should be held accountable. I received a letter from a General at USAREC, dated 17 September 07, "...the Army and Recruiting Command value integrity and honesty as the foundation of success and core values of our soldiers. We take every reported instance of compromise very seriously..." If his statements were true, the issues mentioned here would have been put to rest months ago. Even still, I wish those house stripping recruiters and their Commanding Officer shared this General's understanding of the Core Values. I wish these recruiter's really meant what they said. No matter how you spin it, these recruiters are just so wrong. 16 months after it all began; there is still no closure in sight. I am told that recruiters are held to a high standard. If that is true, then Army Recruiting Commanding Officers should be held to an even higher standard. The initial issue from the SSG was bad enough. The actions that followed are much worse. Too many lives may have been impacted by what this recruiter did when he abandoned that house and all of that Personally Identifiable Information. My life has been severely negatively impacted.
