This film, produced between 1950 and 1952, shows how the UNIVAC computer was used in business, defense and by the census. Ruger MkIII 22/45 with BAD Remington Thunderbolt .22LR ammo I shoot a Ruger MkIII 22/45 .22LR pistol with a Ruger scope mount and a BSA reflex sight. While this gun is normally accurate, accuracy depends on good ammo! I purchased two bricks of Remington Thunderbolt and after just 300 rounds I left the gun club in disgust, having lost all accuracy due to wax fouling. By then end of the 300 rounds the gun was keyholing like crazy and shooting a consistent 2 feet right from just 10 yards away! Moral of the story: buy Federal copper-washed bulk ammo in 550 round bricks, it's 10.50 at Wal-Mart and it never suffers this kind of debilitating fouling even after 1100 rounds downrange in an afternoon. Painting Remington 700 Pt 1 This is my first time painting a rifle so I thought I would youtube my work to let others see how it works. I am by no means an expert so any tips in the comments are appreciated. I am going off the multicam instructions for painting that I found on AR15.com. The hardest part of the process is just doing the first step. I had initial regret as I sanded on over 2k worth of gear, but it quickly passed as I put my first layer of paint on. I did this inside because I am in Minnesota and it has been from 15 below to 25 above temperature wise, which is not optimal temp to spray paint. It will turn out glossy and all strange, so I hear. Just make sure you have a mask of some type, a simple 3M painters face mask is cheap and effective. Then after I spray it (and block a towel under the door to keep the smell in) I let it dry for 10 mins then open the window up to let it air out. I would say 95% of the fumes are contained. I will be making follow up with my progress. I didn't think of doing a youtube during the first few steps, but I will show the actual painting on my next portions. Prep work is the key thing here. Getting a decent smooth sanding, and a complete wipe and dry of all parts to keep the paint flat and sticking are critical. Also letting the paint fully dry and "degass" in between thin coats for a strong base will keep the pain lasting for a long time depending upon what kind of use you get.
