Holographic display from SIGGRAPH More optical illusions were offered up by a 3D wide-screen display called Holovizio, which creates giant images resembling holograms. But instead of using lasers, 64 digital projectors are arranged behind the screen, and are programmed to illuminate it together, in order to build up the 3D image. The effect works across a broader range of angles than a conventional hologram, allowing several people to view it at once. Blender Siggraph 2006 demoreel -- extract from www.blendernation.com -- It's that time of the year again! Just before Siggraph we publish a compilation of the greatest Blender work to show the rest of the world what we've been up to and what Blender is capable of. This year, Ton asked Bart to use only animations for the compilation. It made Bart's life a bit easier (less edits to make), but it is also a bit disappointing that so many great stills did not get included. More on this on www.blendernation.com In the video you'll find some samples of Blender character animation, architectural visualisation, commercials, technical demos, realtime content. The World's Largest Etch-A-Sketch : Siggraph 2006 The Electronic Theatre screening at Siggraph 2006 started with a pre-show event: The World's Largest Etch-A-Sketch. All members of the audience were given a wand with two sides, one red and one green. Each side transmitted a signal, which was picked up by sensors on either side of the screen. To operate the Etch-A-Sketch each half of the theatre corresponded to one knob on the Etch-A-Sketch. For example, in order to draw a horizontal line from left to right, the whole left half of the theatre would have to wave the red side of their wand at the screen.
