Site Specific Browsing on Mac OS X with Fluid.app In this video, I discuss a must have piece of software for Mac OS X, called Fluid. (or Fluid.app) I've been using Fluid for quite some time now but oddly enough, I've not talked about it before. Fluid provides Site Specific Browsers (SSB) for your favorite web applications. If you are a big user of Google Mail, Twitter, Facebook, FriendFeed, or Pandora then you could definitely benefit from Fluid.app. Fluid also supports MenuExtra SSBs which means you can run tiny web sites from your system-wide menu bar in Mac OS X. This is perfect for mobile versions of websites if you wish to have a quick peek at self updating information. (Twitter, Digg, Identi.ca, etc). You can download Fluid.app absolutely free at http://www.fluidapp.com/. Enjoy! Tags: fluid fluid.app ssb site specific browsers userscripts greasemonkey safari webkit software utility menuextra |

Site-Specific Water and Fertilizer Application by a Wireless Site-Specific Water and Fertilizer Application by a Wireless Valve Controller Network Michael Delwiche [Chair, Biological & Agricultural Engineering, UC Davis] Abstract: Variations in plant water and nutrient demand and environmental regulations to protect water quality provide significant justification for development of site-specific irrigation and fertigation systems. We have developed wireless valve controllers that self-assemble into a mesh network. Mesh networking means that controllers pass messages to extend the effective communication range without using high power radios. Solar energy is collected with a 200 mW panel to operate each controller node without yearly battery replacement. Nine nodes were tested in a mesh network and each properly responded to commands. Measurements of battery voltage, solar panel voltage, internal temperature, and external sensors were transmitted every 10 minutes. Irrigation schedules were stored locally on each node and executed automatically. Such a network of intelligent valve controllers will allow growers in orchards, vineyards, nurseries, greenhouses, and landscapes to develop management practices that improve water and fertilizer use efficiency. Site-Specific Dance: Vanishing Point (2008) by Tom Pearson & Zach Morris Site-Specific Dance / Contemporary or Modern Dance: As part of the City/Dans series, Danspace Project presented the premiere of Tom Pearson and Zach Morris' Bessie Award winning evening-length contemporary dance work. Wickedly funny and suddenly somber, Vanishing Point fuses aggressive, exhaustive movement, meditative nuance, and live music by the whisky-powered, alt-bluegrass ensemble The Dang-it Bobbys, led by composer Kris Bauman (performing with Andy Cotton and Bryn Roberts). Vanishing Point was created in collaboration and performed with: Donna Ahmadi, Marissa Nielsen-Pincus, Tara O'Con, Jennine Willett. Lighting Design by Carol Mullins and Costume Design by Karen Young. The work was presented in a three night engagement that ran Thursday, June 26th through Saturday, June 28th, 2008. Vanishing Point won two 2008 Bessie Awards, for Music Composition and for Choreography. Vanishing Point engages St. Mark's Church both as a sanctuary and an architectural structure evocative of the columns and porticos of the rural south. Culled from the artists' collective stories, it represents a confluence of slipping memories, improbable tales, and faulty recollections--an exploration of family legacies shrouded in secrets, blurred by liquor, or in some cases composed of outright lies. With an absurd measure of sincerity and an equal dollop of irreverence, the work grapples with both the unraveling and blurring of lines between truth and fabrication—simultaneously self-aware of performing while simultaneously evoking a fictional funeral. Ricocheting backward and forward through time in non-linear, photo album fashion, Vanishing Point shotguns from elusive impression to indelible imprint, skips decades, unearths fragments of a hidden past, and obsessively replays events in an attempt to triangulate meaning from fractured moments, tattered images, and the personal hazes we view them through. Documentation of the installation at ETC.galerie, Prague, Czech Republic. "Space translations" kombinuje tyto historické a epistomologické kódy.
